The Body Electric

The Body Electric

A Poem by The Analog Kid
"

A poem inspired by NWO, conspiracy theories, what's going on today, 1984, Ayn Rand and a cheesy Rush video. Update-Musings on a Rush song from the album “Grace Under Pressure” released 4/12/1984.

"

Part I  (written 8/16/2010)

The year is 2020 in America

technology has finally

been subverted completely

the RFT microchips are installed

just below the surface

of my skin

big brother chases me down

tracking my every move

I struggle to resist,

but the control freaks persist

some might say

it’s the number

of the beast

I don’t know

but I am losing control

subjugation is the word

I switch on my original program

written in the now

obsolete binary code

I transmit for anyone to hear “1001001”

let’s see them crack that code

and if they do, they know where I stand

Part II  (Written 2/14/26)

Still slaving away to build that

perfect beast

not one which came

from Noah’s Ark

the mother of all machines

for

the NSA and the oligarch

the professor

and

writer of this song

is gone

but he

knew this enslavement

is wrong

it’s an insurrection of the mind

a psyop

metastasizing in real time

by dopamine hits

with electrifying validation

sweet sedation.

everything’s fine.

instant elation.

fantisizing over the simulation

they

wallow in what is hollow

rapid and vapid

arrival of counterfeit love

reprisal of that artificial glove

at the behest of a

system that won’t rest

humming along and strong

it's a dark satire on the what the world is turning into. i grew up watching lots of dystopian SF films and i thought they had sufficiently warned us, but not so. technology has become more and more invasive, but it is the owners and controllers of technologies who are really peverse. fighting back against them seem futile, but i liked the way the persona acts defiantly towards the end of the story. it might be something small, but it is liberating.

A fun futurist piece... though also scary to think this may actually be true... kinda of reminds me of an updated version of the movie "Enemy Of The State"

Great futuristic poem. I hope that never happens. I don't want someone know my every waking mood like in Minority Report or any of the similar movies. I don't know if that will be the mark of the best of not but I hope I am not around when people become micro chipped.
