Sweet Temptation

The devils food is oh so sweet,

I should know its not mine to eat,

stealing it piece by piece,

coveting the whole,

wishing it were mine to eat,

wanting it forever more.

It starts of great I can not wait,

to bring more inside,

yet I can not take the poison that it hides,

for hidden within each morcel,

is venomous surprise,

 

my thoughts run ragged,

my throat's gone dry,

the devil has destroyed me and I know why,

I should not take what isn't mine

I try to resist it,

but sugar is such a sweet temptation.
