Broken Wings

Broken Wings

A Poem by Gerhardus Retief

I Fear That My Wings Have Broken
Just When I Was About To Fly To The Shining Heaven
Extended My Hands To The Welcoming Clouds
Just Couldn't Reach Into The Soft Warm Feeling
I Could Free My Wings For Such A Short Period
Felt Everything In Me Flow Freely To Freedom
But I Heard That Voice Whispering The Time Is Not Now
The Angels Were All Smiling Gently Down On Me
Singing Calming Love Filled Melodies To Pure My Soul
A Million Times Raised From My Corpse And Returned
Perhaps To Remind Me Where I Should Be Going
Somewhere Where Nobody Is Faceless Anymore
Without A Fact Of Broken Wings To Swift Everywhere
Descend With Love,With Care,With Voices Echoing Forever
