Verse 1
A boy goes walking down the street,
Hands deep in his pockets, staring at his feet.
The only thought going through his mind,
"I need to use just one more time".
Chorus
He cried for help
And no one came.
They turned from him
Because they were ashamed.
Afraid of the kid
He had become,
Even more afraid
To help him up.
Verse 2
He had no bed or food to eat.
His family would not allow him a safe retreat,
For he was a criminal, they had posted his bail,
But as far as they cared, he belonged in jail.
Chorus
Verse 3
It was a rainy night, he was shivering cold.
He pulled a needle out of the pocket of his coat.
He cried as he shot drugs in his vein again,
He died there in the alley alone and wet.
Chorus
Finale
So many of our kids abuse.
They do it when they don't know
What else to do.
So when they cry for help
Be the one who came,
Extend your hand of help
So they'll live another day.
Not everyone's the person
You've become,
Grasp their hand in friendship
And help them up.
