I'm an electric fence

I'm an electric fence

A Poem by D. Mansfield
"

The devil had many sons

"
I'm an electric fence wire,
hiding in the brush,
don't bump into me
or you'll find me shocking, i trust.

What i provide, are things that hurt.
Keeps people away, nobody lurks.

Sliding down the hill, but there is no snow,
no path to guide me. just a quick descent below.

The bowels of hell, are what awaits,
they stack you like cordwood,
now I've arrived at the gate.

As it swings open. slowly I start to despair,
wishing that you all could, just be there,
but the journey is solo, I've arrived alone,
these walls are made, of brick and stone.

Leave me here now, by the gate.
You don't need to feel, obligated to wait,
I know the way. from here, known it all along.
Step aside foul creature, tell father I'm home.

Your poem flows haphazardly but makes the content read naturally but musically.

'Leave me here now, by the gate.
You don't need to feel, obligated to wait,
I know the way. from here, known it all along.
Step aside foul creature, tell father I'm home.'

Gentle finish, made me smile and sighhh.

Thank you so much for reading
You speak of isolation here Danny. I just switched the power off so I can visit without fear of suffering a shock. Good to find a new poem from you. All the best.
