Noise

Noise

A Poem by D. Mansfield

The noise in your head
Has become louder than the world,
When the flag you salute, is no longer unfurled.
Everything appears to be just like before,
But it's different now, like you've walked, thru a door.

People are all so busy, never doing anything
Nobody even makes the phone ring,
Caught up, in all of life's little traps,
Trying to get those monkeys off their back.

But in the wild, a monkey swings,
Because he loves, the freedom it brings.
So as you shed, those monkeys, off your back,
Stop to swing, before the door goes "smack".
