...mysteries...

...mysteries...

A Poem by dovetailer
"

books are the places we go to dream

"

…mysteries…

I love books...

thousands of my own

fill every shelf...nook and cranny of my lair...

piled beside my favorite chair…

by my bed…

some I've never read

...but will...one day...

I love the "new" smell

of fresh ink on new paper...

the untouched gilding

on the edges of the page

the crackle of the spine

as it's opened

for the very first time...

how many stories...loves...lives

how many drops of blood...

beads of sweat...

salty tears...

are bound between the covers?

how many mysteries wait

to feed my heart and soul?

we feel as we read...

we're moved to tears...

filled with wonder...

wistful hoping...

anger...

even loathing at times...

but most of all

we feel the "thrum...thrum...thrum"

of our heart...

aching in our soul...

loving vicariously where scalding ink

touches yielding page...

adventure begins with the first words

on the printed page

when we leave the world we know

to discover the mysteries

that wait...

So much emotion in this well written write.
I enjoyed reading this.

I concur with my whole being~ how often and fully we submerge into otherworlds between the front and back covers of enchantment~ our minds create the cinema~ which is often times more spectacular than contrived reels on a giant screen splashed to woo the masses who've forgotten the many facets of the imaginative journey encouraged by the written form~
