The One That Got Away

The One That Got Away

A Poem by Diana

The One That Got Away

Wine Glass in Hand,

I talk about

the Feelings I reject.

Love, love, love.

The kids tell me

I have so much of it.

But I never speak of it.

There’s a Ring on her finger.

You tell me

I’ll always be the One that got away.

Diamond ring

on the wrong finger.

Grandpa’s sweetheart.

No man just for you.

The one that got away. I think we all have one or two of those. Very nice poem I enjoyed reading this one.

The lines didn't make sense at first but after reading it the pieces formed themselves and gave me an interesting ambiguity. Not too literal, not too puzzling. This piece exists in between. Heartbreaking writing. :)
