Love's Poem (2004)

a contrast poem

                             

                                I am your remedy

                                I cure your ache of loneliness 

                                I give you that warm feeling of bliss

                                Taking away your melancholy spirits,

                                I give you something to live for

                                I give you optimism

                                From my gift, you will learn to become compassionate

                                From me, you can find peace and prosperity

 

                                I am your disease

                                I enjoy causing you pain —

                                That erratic feeling in your heart and stomach

                                I make you do absurd things —

                                You become irrational and hasty

                                Like a leech, you become obsessed with your victim

                                Frivolously you prance about, unaware of your surroundings

                                Your reality becomes distorted — entrapped in perpetual illusion

                                From my curse, I can seclude you from your necessities
