The Woman Who Should Have Been Here
A Poem by Aisha Mnd
he smiles at you, that beautiful smile of his, lop-sided and careless like the wind he smells of the forest of the pine trees and the grass of adventure and loyalty
She could have made him happy
you draw near to him, and bury yourself in his arms his chest is against yours, his heart beats violently against yours only where your heart should be is a cavity: empty, cold and undeserving
and so you wonder about The Woman who should have been here
