The Road

Darkened skies,

like crushed blue velvet,

carry the storm.

Lightning strikes

illuminating, briefly, what we don’t

wish to see.

Thunder rumbles -

a reminder of what was

and what is to come.

Engorged Drops (icy malevolence)

shatter

on skin already hardened

by life’s injustices. 

The road is

long.
