loveis.

loveis.

A Poem by h d e rushin

Let

the

unpalatable meatloaf

be a testament to

good sandwich making.

What was both

enervate and untamed,

I solved

with mayo

and two professed

slices of

whole wheat bread.

That is was delicious

breaks my heart

and I sat grief

stricken at the thought

that to please

you would try

so hard.

Meatloaf is so good the first time...and then still works so well as leftovers for sandwiches...

perhaps as a relationship...we learn from the first time, when love is the entree---

there is that comfortable, passion filled taste...
but then, it might end...
and yet resume in its leftover state...tries again to please...
delicious can break a heart, but also put it back together, like a really well made sandwich..

made with love? it sates the stomach, and also the heart.

I need to get further in your head or get a time machine that also turns me into a fly on the wall to grasp everything being said here...but it provokes thought and will mean something to me in some way in my own life.

Sometimes, the simplest gesture is the grandest of all, our own Little Drummer Boy moments. This strikes me as a bit different from your normal work--there is an unusual economy of language. This is, I wish to stress, simply an observation. There is no room nor need for criticism here.

A smooth thin spread of humor, with a couple of dabs of cynicism. I had to smile wide after reading this piece, but at the same time it was a little sad. Discussing the effects of music on the psyche I mentioned to C that I spent all day yesterday listening to a song by Lynyrd Skynyrd called, Simple Man. its message of keeping it simple, resonates. A lot like this poem, the better most satisfying things we come across are born in simplicity.

A well contructed piece, d. A great example of keeping it simple.
