Agent Orange

Agent Orange

A Poem by h d e rushin

At Daria's Christmas club

there was enough money left over

for Barbie watches for the girls.

Matching vials

of chrism,

consecrated baptism oils

and plum cakes.

Their fattening, honey

dough pressed

into manlike forms

and colored

with confectioners sugar

painted pink.  a few

with raisins baked

below their chins

and nudged with

endearment.

And I mention this

because the lizards

never returned  to the trees

even after 40 years have passed.

And children were born

with heads the size

of silk worms/

politicians always look straight ahead, never to the side or the rear, unless they're looking at other politicians...all those 'historical errors' were made by someone else, and besides we're busy making our own...it ought to be a felony just to run for public office...the most dangerous weapon of mass destruction is a bunch of men coming to agreement about what to do...hi dana, you're always pinning the tail (tale!) on the donkey...

The left overs of total culpability. And the failure of power to be concerned. We should all cry. Some of us however write our concience.

We should also hang our heads in shame on this side of the pond, after all, we started it in Malaya.

Children should only ever know Barbie watches and plum cakes nudged with endearment, but that supposes we learn the lessons of history.

Totally agree with Edward that the most dangerous weapon of mass destruction is mankind.

Beccy.

after all these years...that drug is still affecting so many, just as the memories of that war are still haunting all those who fought in it, all those who lost loved ones in it...and all those who just felt the effects here at home...it will never go away---just as the sun comes up each day...that orange does the same.

the worst war for many reasons...
