what it is to covfefe in the sun.

what it is to covfefe in the sun.

A Poem by h d e rushin

it could mean that my neighbor is  jealous of me.

and why not. take a look at me. I am beautiful.
they are not.
my garage door opens with a single push of a button.
they stoop in the sun and pull on the iron
like James Brown separating himself from the earth.
I can think
they cannot. I changed my pants this morning,
while they wear the same clothes.
I held a job. get a pension,
raise a flag in memorial

they get food stamps. their kids are well fed.
they have big stomachs. while
I sit alone peering at my single fish.

If nothing else, a new word has risen from the 'new order.' and I confess, 'tis a most wonderful word to me.

So hard is it not, to distinguish between honest need and free loading; but safety nets have a way of snaring all the fish whether needy or not.

Little story for you. I know someone, a little older than me; who can often be seen making a painful way to the shops with walking stick in hand; can also be spotted on the first Thursday of every month, bopping away at our local pub's rock and roll night.

Talk about the miracle of Lourdes!

Beccy.

Walt Whitman would smile at this song of self. Your stature matches his. I imagine your smile is nicer than his though.

Wow. I loved the twist at the end as well as the stanzas that led up to it. This poem shows the part of life we rarely see — the pains of those who seem to have it all. In the end, it isn't material wealth that matters ― it's our happiness that matters. I love how the last two stanzas illustrated that idea. Wonderful poem.

Cynical truth, absolute and tragic. Do we deny those people for taking advantage of screwed up systems so others can write poems that weep over the lists of 'how to live with a sense of pride'?!

As often happens, you touch mind and heart, dana.

yes, they have big stomachs...food stamps...buy alcohol and cigarettes rather than necessities, sometimes.

those who don't have, have it easier than those who do have...and that single fish....what does he think as he stares back at you---
sometimes we wonder who the actual unfortunates are.
