What's bad for you is almost always the more desirable; such a paradox. Bit like when you say to a child, 'don't touch that stove darling, it's hot;' Next thing, is a loud howl and a blistered fingertip. I know, I have been that mother. :))

ahahaha no they don't do they ;) unless you are a Baptist Dunker ...hell of a thing about those spring salads ... had the same problem with my baby spinach and kale ... just could not eat it fast enough .. happened to get talking about it with a physical trainer (not mine) and he said he simply froze it ... took it out when needed .. a great idea .. works fantastic ... especially if you stir fry ;) great read for me ma'am!

Haiku I am taking is ironic? Like the short punchy and defiant nature of this as it screams independence and free will from decisions and religion!

I was in Walmart this morning and the women in front of me had two grocery baskets full to the top and overflowing. Cookies, cakes, bacon, soda pop, chips, ice cream, candies...you name it. When I left I said to myself, "damn, she must of needed some real comforting". lol. thank you my friend...dana
I'm Presbyterian and I feel offended being mentioned in the same poem as soggy lettuce. I think if you buy it in those plastic containers, it happens sooner than on the vegetable stand. I know more baptists who are soggy than I. I like this haiku. I did my best, Dana. CD

no offense CD. I wish I had more luck with my relationships than with my choices for sustenance. Gwe.. read moreno offense CD. I wish I had more luck with my relationships than with my choices for sustenance. Gwendolyn Brooks wrote "where does the poem end and the person begin" ? She meant the mordant distress from the guilt of past wrongs; the hindrance of our penitence. You know I hate haiku. I hate it because it reminds me of half a song, or a song with cut off lyrics. The paradox of this poem is that there is no real comfort in the recollection of your former self. Waist lines have increased. Buts have grown larger. Sag is both effortless and unwilled.. Eventually we give in to the reward of giving in: to cookies, to bad relationships, to our soggy dreams....thanks for your comments my friend...dana

No offence taken. Feeling a little dull lately, hence the half a*s review. Your the best, D.
The allegations that cookies are not "good" for you are unfounded. I enjoyed your poem.
