love test

love test

A Poem by h d e rushin

turns to the moon
as if it alone is the true arbiter
the prepotent stallion of
uncertain ancestry,
that without compromise
takes

our little wishes
our petty heartaches
in the wombs of
it's little spirit men
filled with the juice of
the ancients

who themselves couldn't
stomach pain or distance or
even the death of a loved one
so
encased their cats in a minor
sarcophagus at the
feet of the dead pharaoh
who in life confused
mass with mixture
(the sun going down with the
failure of crops).

Now, who will give freely to
their Cordelia
the painful corolla,
the intoxicating moonseed
smooth as a sealed garment?
Who

plays Lear in his bright red
montmorency in this final test of love?
the end.

wow! what a mix ... Ancient Egypt, Shakespeare and moon goddess .. the juxtaposition of men and women is intriguing ... the moon as "the prepotent stallion of uncertain ancestry" ... and "in the wombs of it's little spirit men" .. a strong sense of angst and sarcasm says i ... our lives are small .. we typically don't think so but ...they are very very small .. we sometimes wrap ourselves up tight to avoid all kinds of things ... entombed we miss everything it is to be human ... this is a challenging read for me H D ... every line an avenue, alley or speedway to investigate ... killer closing ... love's final test ... the end ... sheesh!

if you love me, you will take off your mask, get really close...and contract together with me.
I heard a lady interviewed at one of his rallies today..."God will watch over me as I live" the reporter said...
"can't watch over you if you are dead"
You blend in the Shakespeare references so deftly.
