To connect with others, to build lasting relationships, this is worth more than all the gold in the world...

Are you reading this, does it strike a chord from within?  

Are you alone in the still of night wondering who feels the same?

Irony of ironies, you’re not alone, isolated like everyone else, 

Desire for connection, wondering if anyone feels the same.

10 years older, dealing with battles fought by numerous others,

A thousand years and the story never changes.

It’s a cliché for sure, 

The path that has been trodden by the masses before, 

Walking a trail, an illusion of isolation, you are not alone.

Love is worth the pain, to let down your guard and open your heart. 

To love, even though all things are temporary  is worth  heartache.

Love is worth the risk of rejection, a hope for new connections and friends.

Hardening the heart and callusing the soul, 

Takes the passion and color out of life.

Without love life has lost value.  

Without love, the world is devoid of compassion and cruel.

Love is the bond that holds all things together,

The bond that keeps those dear close.

Love is a handout stretched, a shoulder to cry on, an ear that listens, and a hug at the right moment.

Have you talked to her? Did you ask her why?

Would you not be upset if your heart was being torn apart?
Someone told her Writers Cafe is being destroyed.

True, but all connections will not end in love, David.
Sometimes a close friend is enough.
You write with a lot of passion but with hesitation.
Have you ever heard, "Love finds you when you stop looking."
However, every friendship will not develop into love.
We make mistakes but cannot stop enjoying our passion.
You relate "pain" with love.
You can love your friends. No pain.

Life and all it offers is worth the pain and yes, we do need each other. The pause is before we know who and what is the other, perhaps? Yours are wise words but.. need pausing, letter by letter.
For me, this is their core,
