Obligations watch

Sometime we do what we want.........

I would run away, 

in fields I'd dance and play, 

with lack of want today, 

cares forgotten chased away.  

I then remember the oath I swore, 

a sentinels watch by the ocean shore, 

youth passed away, and is forlorn, 

Authority said, vigilant stay once more.

this ode to freedom really spoke to me. i have been thinking a lot lately of how i'd rather have freedom than money. success: i am currently unemployed and broke. but i'm happier now than when i had my 9 to 5. that i get to take each day slowly and stop to smell the flowers (or fall leaves) while learning to be kinder to myself and face problems with courage.
