The flame has died

A flame left alone will fizzle and fade.....

The flame has died 

it's light no longer comforts 

we lit it together 

the future was bright 

the flame has died 

a chill has settled in 

I no longer shiver from the cold 

my eyes have adjusted to the dark

the flame has died 

was it the wind 

was it lack of fuel

was it neglect

the flame has died 

the wax has hardened 

the candle gathers dust 

I have nothing to lite it with
