Writers Block

Writers Block

A Poem by Dave W.
"

I couldn't write so I wrote about it.....

"
Writers block
that blocks the way

the flow of words stopped
like a toilet stopped up
clogged up

or a river dammed
like creativity damned to run dry
dry as the paper bereft of words

words that describe telling a story
and stories
and stories

except these pages are empty
devoid of poetry
of sonnets
of soliloquies

of passion
of love
of hate

just emptiness stopped by
writers block.....

Good one!
I write mini-pieces, haiku/senryu, and have the opposite problem, my mind's always spinning in 17 syllables, a block now & then would be welcome :)
Good luck Dave!

Thank you Arundass for the kind words.
Writing about the inability to write is like a literary oxymoron. Inspiration from the void, so to speak. But there isn't any void and there never was. There is life, continuing and ticking by one second at a time. We can observe and write about it or live it and write about it. I'm a big fan of the latter proposition. Your "poem" made me smile.

Thankyou Fabian, a friend of mine was talking about writers block and it inspired me.
David Draiman who is a great poet always says, "Open your mind."
Maybe if you let your guard down a little bit?

I think we all been through that and it’s actually pretty original that you can write about this even though you can’t write, which is funny. I think we going through this sometimes because sometimes in our lives, we became so numb and we can’t even use words to describe our pain.
Also, that reminded me the new poem “even this one can't be used again” from Jacob Erin.

You are a great poet.
