Armor

Like a shield
The book stands between me
And the world--
Armor against the chaos and
Conflict.

Each word a weapon,
My arsenal is well stocked--
Always ready to fight
What life throws my way.

Each new world, a sanctuary.
Each new page brings friends or foes.

They protect me and keep me
Safe and
Warm.

Very good poem. It flows very well which is a necessity in poetry and I can relate since I do much the same thing though less with reading and more with writing now. My only real gripe is that it starts off with a powerful feeling in the first two stanzas and by the third it is mellowed out a bit and by the last that feeling is gone and replaced and the ending simply doesn't match the rest of the poem. Still, it was a good poem and I enjoyed reading it.
