Sleep Over MadnessA Stage Play by Angie Diane♥♥Ten minute play I wrote for Creative Writing.First the curtains will be closed and the lights will start to appear on the curtains. The curtains will open. The audience will see the room in the beginning. The only difference is that the girls are standing in the room. The audience will see them talking. A little bit later they will dance. Then the later on in the play the lights will go out. Amanda’s bedroom- Bed in the right corner. One red chair in the left corner. Lights streaming down behind the chair. Pictures on the off white wall and a wall unit with a television on one part, books, and other things on the bottom two shelves. The top shelf is some jars and snow globes. A closet door on the back wall. Lights are already on in her bedroom. The dresser is on the other side of the bed. It has a player for the iPod on it. Amanda (happy tone): Hey guys this sleepover is going to be awesome!
Ashley: Yes, I have never been over your house before.
Carmen: Your room is very big.
Amanda: It isn’t that big. It is pretty small compared to my parent’s bedroom. My parent’s bedroom is huge. My closet is about the same size as my room.
Carmen: Still I think it is huge. My bedroom is small.
Amanda: Well girl I have to live like this because of my parents. They aren’t here right now and they told me to have a few friends over so that I don’t have to be lonely.
Ashley: Is that why you are having us over this weekend?
Amanda: No, because I don’t like being left alone in my house when my parents go away. There are a lot of murders happening around here lately. Did you hear about the one that happened two days ago?
Carmen: No, what happened?
Ashley: I heard about it. I heard that a girl was on the phone and all of a sudden the power went out. She heard a voice talk somewhere in her bedroom. She was scared and she tried to run for help, but the murderer caught her and stabbed her until she died. It was a very scary situation for her parents when they found her body dead. I heard that the murderer had gotten away and he is no where to be found now.
Amanda: I heard that too. She was only sixteen years of age.
Carmen: Come on guys. You’re starting to freak me out.
Amanda: Sorry Carm. I didn’t mean to scare you.
Ashley (sadly): Did you know that I might be moving away soon?
Carmen (surprised): To where?
Ashley: My parents said maybe to
Amanda:
Carmen: I mean I heard that
Ashley: We are moving to a nice quiet town. The town is actually pretty nice. I went to
Carmen: I am going to miss you if you move.
Amanda: I’ll miss you too. What part of
Ashley: We are moving to a town called Matawan, but I don’t know what road we are moving to if we move. I will let you guys know if my parents ever tell me.
Amanda: I would love to know what street you are going to be living on. I would probably come visit you when you move. Hopefully my Mom would let come to visit. Do you know if you are going to have a pool?
Ashley: I really don’t know yet. I would love to have a pool though. That is my favorite activity in
Carmen: I loved that amusement park too! My favorite ride was the one that would flip you all over the place. I love rides like that. I haven’t been to that park in years. We should go soon. I mean before it closes you know?
Amanda: Yeah, that would be really fun. We could have a girl’s day out without our families. My parents would allow it if they knew who I was going with. They know you guys so they would let me go. Do you want to invite anymore friends or do you want it to just be us three?
Ashley: I think it would be better if it was us three. Do you agree?
Carmen: I agree with that I wouldn’t want to go with more people.
Amanda: That’s true I wouldn’t want to invite anyone else either.
Carmen: My little sister would probably bother me to come. Maybe I should keep this secret, but tell my parents later.
Amanda: How old is your sister?
Carmen: Twelve.
Ashley: I have a brother. He is twelve to. We should make a play date for them. Maybe they will start to like each other.
Carmen: My sister would love to male a play date for them.
Amanda: I am really excited that I don’t have a sibling. That makes me really happy because I don’t have to deal with a sibling. Though sometimes it gets lonely to be alone.
Carmen: That’s why you have us.
Ashley: We love you, girl.
Amanda: I love you guys too.
Amanda: No, I have never seen it.
Carmen: That show was mad funny.
Ashley: I really loved watching that show growing up. Carm, what was your favorite part of the show?
Carmen: Moody’s Point was my favorite part of the show.
Amanda: Does that show still come?
Ashley: Yeah, it still comes on and I type it.
Amanda: I’m going to start watching it.
Carmen: You will have a lot of laughs with that show. My favorite episode of Moody’s Point was when the father had to find his toe. You see that she is not his real daughter. I felt bad for her though. You see her mother in a balloon and she finds the father’s toe. The girl needs a surgery and she gets a monkey heart. I thought it was horrible that she was switched at birth. I hate that they ended the show and you never got to find out what the real Moody looked like.
Amanda: Is that supposed to be like
Ashley: I really believe that it was a parody of it. I really don’t know. I think they were just making fun of it.
Amanda: I have an idea. Do you want to dance?
Carmen: Sure.
Ashley: You know it.
They turned on some music and started dancing to whatever song came on. They were listening to Amanda’s iPod. They were listening to whatever song they could dance to. Like they were dancing to Belly Dancer by Akon. Amanda loved that song and she listened to it a lot and she danced to it a lot. Ashley: I love this song.
Amanda: I love it too! This is one of my favorite songs by Akon. I listen to it all of the time.
Carmen: I have heard this song a thousand times before.
Amanda: It is on my iPod because I love it. I think I want to watch something On Demand. Do you girls want to watch a movie later?
Carmen: I’m up for it. What movie do you want to see?
Ashley: I heard that Beyond a Reasonable Doubt was a good movie. We should watch that.
Amanda: I wanted to see that movie a few nights ago.
Carmen: What is that movie even about?
Ashley: I think it is a lawyer movie. I love law movies.
Amanda: I want to go to law school when I go to college.
Carmen: That would be a good idea. Lawyers make a good amount of money.
Ashley: Not all lawyers work at sometimes. I learned that in Criminal law. That was one of the best classes of the year. I thought it was fun.
Amanda: I took Criminal law and next year I want to take Forensics.
Carmen: I have a question.
Ashley: What is it?
Carmen: What did you think of the test today?
Amanda: I thought that it was actually pretty easy. I thought that the test would be hard.
Ashley: What class are we talking about?
Carmen: English class.
Ashley: Oh that was easy. I love that book.
Carmen: I don’t like Frankenstein. I think that book is really sad. I can’t stand sad things. I feel really bad for the monster. Frankenstein shouldn’t have created the monster if he was just going to regret it. I really make that book out to be horrible.
Amanda: The book isn’t that bad Carm. It could be worse and everything. I mean he cold have killed himself because his life is so horrible. If he did that then wouldn’t that be a bad thing. He was created, but he deserves to have a life.
Carmen: I know he deserves it and that is not the issue. I just hate how gothic the novel is. I hate when people are gothic. Most of them scare me to the point where I have nightmares.
Ashley: Carm, isn’t that discrimination? You can’t judge a person by their cover. They really could be nice once you get to know them. You never know and besides I know some of the gothic kids in school. They are nice and some are really sensitive, but some people don’t realize that. I know a few guys that are gothic and really sensitive.
The lights blew out and the girls screamed. Amanda: This is really creepy.
Ashley: Isn’t this kind of like what happened at that girls house.
Amanda: Yes, but we haven’t heard some creepy guy yet. I hope that the guy isn’t even in here.
The Murderer: You are wrong about that. I am here and you won’t know where I am. You won’t ever find out. Just know that all of you will not survive to the end. YOU WILL ALL DIE!
The girls all screamed again. Carmen: I’m scared, Amanda.
Amanda: I’m scared too.
Ashley: I am as well.
The Murderer: Who will die first? Will it be Amanda, Carmen, or Ashley? I haven’t decided yet. (Ponders for a moment and decides his first victim.) I think I will go with Ashley first. She seems strong willed.
Ashley’s leg is dragged and she is screaming. Amanda and Carmen are trying to pull her towards them, but she is gone. The guy was too strong for them. All they could was Ashley’s screaming coming from the closet. Amanda walked over to the closet. Amanda: Ashley are you still alive? (No response from Ashley. She opens the closet door and screams. She sees Ashley’s body hanging from one of her clothing racks.) Carmen: Is she alive still Amanda?
Amanda: No the murderer kill her. She is hanging from one of my clothing racks. She doesn’t have any stab wounds on her. I am really scared for your life and my own.
Carmen: It will all be okay. I think we should call the police you know?
Amanda: You are right, but what if they don’t make it in time?
Carmen: I believe they will make it in time.
Amanda: Okay, I think I agree with you. I hope we make it through the rest of the night. We should get Ashley’s body down from my clothing rack.
The Murderer: None of you will survive the night. All of the power is out. Your cell phones have been taken from you. You will not be able to call anyone and you will fail. You will never be seen alive again. You girls are lucky that you have made it this far with out me killing you. Do you have any idea where I am right now?.
Amanda: No, we don’t know where you are right now. I don’t want to see what your face looks like at all. Now why don’t you leave us alone and never come back again.
The Murderer: I don’t think that will ever happen. You see girls you really are not important to this world and you will all be dead in a few short hours. Now play along and no one will get hurt. Do I make myself clear?
Carmen: Amanda, I’m really scared now.
Amanda: I’m scared too.
The television comes crashing down and it hits Carmen on the head. She is knocked to the ground. Her head is bleeding and she is now dead. Amanda is looking around the room and she is trying to figure out where he is. The murderer comes behind her and grabs her neck. The Murderer: You will be the last one to die. You will be stabbed to death. (He stabs her to death and she is screaming in pain. He lets go of her body and she bleeds to death.) Ha ha you are all dead now.
Amanda bolts up in bed and screams. She had the worst dream in the world. Her friends wake up when they hear her scream. Ashley: Amanda, what’s wrong?
Amanda: I just had the worst dream in the whole world. It was scary.
Carmen: What was it about, Amanda?
Amanda: Well at first we were all hanging out and were having a sleepover like tonight. We were having a lot of fun. We were talking about Ashley moving and other things. We were dancing later. Then we started talking about movies. All of a sudden we hear a strange man’s voice and it is a murderer.
Carmen and Ashley: Man that is very scary.
Amanda: I know. I was really scared. (Crying) Carmen: It will be okay. As long as it doesn’t happen in real life then we will all be fine. You don’t have to worry about that.
Ashley: I think we should do something to calm ourselves down. I mean it is three in the morning.
Amanda: Alright.
Carmen: I think we should watch television or listen to music. What do you want to do?
Amanda: I think I want to just listen to music. I don’t want to do anything else. I’m still tired. It is way to early in the morning.
Ashley: Alright we will listen to music for a little while. Then we can go back to sleep if you aren’t too scared. I don’t think your dream will come true.
Amanda: You never know what could happen, Ashley. I just want to talk instead. I really don’t feel like listening to music. What do you want to talk about?
Ashley: Let’s talk about movies, music, friends, family. Anything in that category.
Carmen: I agree. I think we should talk about boyfriends too. Don’t you have a boyfriend, Amanda?
Amanda: Yes, he is the greatest boyfriend in the world. I really love him a lot. He wanted to stay over, but I said no way because my parents will kill me. I don’t want to be dead.
Ashley: I remember when he did sleep over that one time. Why did he sleep over again?
Amanda: He got kicked out and my parents let him spend the night in our guest bedroom. He didn’t come into my room at all.
Carmen: That is a good thing. What did you do though?
Amanda: Watched a movie and then danced for a bit. Well actually he watched me dance. Then we shared a kiss and that’s all that happened. Then we both just went to bed.
Ashley: Your boyfriend is really funny.
Amanda: Why thank you.
Carmen: Hey I have a question?
Ashley: For who?
Carmen: Both. Who was your first crush?
Amanda: My boyfriend actually and then it changed and then went back to him.
Ashley: My crush was Nick Thomas. I was sad when he moved.
Carmen: My crush was Mark Philippine. I heard he had a crush on me.
Amanda: Well I’m tired.
Ashley: Me too.
Carmen: Me too.
Then they all went to sleep and Amanda didn’t have that crazy dream again. © 2010 Angie Diane♥♥ |
