A Chapter by Angie Diane♥♥

Before I knew it was sitting in front of the Leader. I had a very nervous look on my face. He smiled at me in his kind way. He was always nice to me because I was an only child. Well he was always nice to everyone. I don’t think I was the only one who he cared for. I know he would put his life on the line for this whole village. Actually he has once about ten years ago. A couple of months after my Master had been taken from me.

“Hello Amaya.” He said with a smile. He looked like he had something very serious to discuss with me. I was nervous because I had never seen him so serious. He had always been playful with me.

“Hello sir.” I said really nervous. I knew he could hear in my voice that I was nervous.

“You know you can call me by my name.” He said. I knew I could, but that would have been pretty rude if you asked me.

“I know, but I don’t want to be rude.”

“Well let’s get down to business, Amaya. You’re Master who you considered your father has some important secrets that you need to hear, but he wrote them within the contents of these letters. He told me when he ever died for me to give them to you. Since you were only five years old I know you wouldn’t comprehend any of the things written in the letters. I decided to give them to you now because you would understand. If you have any questions after you read the letters you can come back to me.” Yuki or the leader of the village said.

“Thank you, sir.” I took the letters carefully. There were only two of them, but they seemed really important since they were from my Master. Tears started to spring into my eyes as I saw my Master’s handwriting. Yuki looked at me with concern when he saw the tears spring to my eyes. He hasn’t seen me cry in years. I wonder how long it’s been since anyone has seen me cry, but myself. I slowly got up from the chair in the Leader’s mansion and left. He was worried about me I knew. I could care less if he cared at that moment. All I wanted to do was run home and get inside so I could read those letters in private.

I ran to my house clutching the two letters in my hand. I didn’t want to destroy them or even crinkle an edge of the envelope. I carefully removed the letter of the first envelope. I examined my Master’s handwriting. It was as neat as ever.

Dear Amaya,

My child…my lovely little girl, Amaya…I am so sorry I left this world and you. I know it’s going to be hard on you. I wish I could send you someone to live with, but I don’t know who to send you too. Honey, I have been keeping secrets from you. I should have told you those secrets a long time ago, but I just couldn’t bring myself to say it.

Amaya, I am not your real father. Your real parents are out in the world somewhere still alive. I had always treated you as my own. You grew up with me because your real parents were trying to protect you. I first met your parents when they had entrusted your life to me.

Your parents were carrying you in their arms as they ran up to me. They had nervous glances written on their face. They were bleeding and helpless.

“Please take care of her.” Your mother had told me. After that your mother and father ran off leaving you in my arms. You were wrapped in a blanket and you were tiny. I didn’t know what to do with you. You started crying and when you saw me you stopped and giggled. I didn’t know what I did. I just thought it was adorable. I manipulated you to think I was your father. I know I was deceiving you for all the years you have known me.

The reason your parents gave you to me was because they were being attacked. They wanted to make sure you were safe. (They did tell me the reasons why they left.) You were the heir to your family and people were after you. That is why they gave you to me because no one would know that you were from their family. As I watched you grow I could tell you were getting into swords. I decided to train you from a young age so that you could protect yourself. You had great potential as soon as you picked up the sword. It was like you were a natural. That is when I decided to let you go to the academy.

I’m sorry for all the lies I had told you, but you had to know the truth. I know you’re parents will come looking for you when you are old enough to become their heir.

From,

You’re Master

I had tears in my eyes after I finished reading that letter. I could feel anger rising up into my body. I ran out of the house and went to the training area. I demolished everything in sight. My sword was shining and it looked like it was smiling.I think it knew when it was going to be used.

That’s when people came and I went after them. They screamed as they saw me coming at them with my sword. I tried to go for their heart. They were screaming for help, but I kept attacking them. I raised my sword above my head and screamed out “Punishing Blow.” A strong burst of energy came from my blade. It slit the two people in half. I knew they were dead. I didn’t care who they were. I just knew they were from my village. I didn’t regret any of the decisions I made.

I would think you would be angry too if you found out most of your life was a lie. Then I remembered the other letter he had written me. I guess I had owed him for taking care of me. I ran into my room filled with more anger, but I kept my composure as I had opened the second one.
