Chapter 16

“W-Will you go out with me,” he asked shyly. My face was glowing red. Alex laughed when he saw my reaction. I could feel the intensity in the room. He was being serious about this. I honestly still don’t know what he sees in me.

“I need some time about it. I will get back to you about it,” I responded with a nervous tone. He seemed to be a little upset that I didn’t have an answer right away. I really needed to think about this. I heard a knock on the door a couple of minutes later. I was glad that there was a distraction. I was going to figure out my answer pretty soon.

Theresa was at the door. She looked a little upset, but I didn’t know what was going on. If she had sent me a text I didn’t get it. I was too busy talking to Alex. “Aubrey, why didn’t you answer your phone? Are you alright? Is everyone alright?”

“I’m sorry; I was taking care of Alex. He’s sick right now. I found out some “things”, but I know he doesn’t want me to share. I feel he needs a really big hug. Are you able to do that for me?”

“Sure,” she responded. I could tell she was worried about him. She went into the room and gave him the biggest hug. I went into my room for a couple of minutes. I was still thinking about what Alex asked me. My heart was starting to thump out of my chest. I am really happy that he asked because I finally decided what my answer was going to be.

Theresa was still in the room with him when I got back. My face was still a little red from the blush. “Hey Theresa, please give Alex and I some time alone to discuss something?”

“Sure, I have to get going anyway. I just came over to make sure you were alright. I told my mother I was going to be home in a few minutes. She will get worried if I don’t call back soon. See you later,” she responded while she started walking out of the room. Theresa was so nice to everyone except for Michelle. Speaking of her…she will be coming back to school on Monday. Best thing I need in my life.

“What do you need to talk to me about alone,” he asked with a curious expression on his face.

“I have an answer to the question you asked me,” I responded.

“Really,” he asked happily. The happiness reached his eyes. I was happy that he was in a good mood now.

“Yes, I have an answer. My answer is yes, I’ll go out with you,” I smiled wide. I was happier than I’ve been in a long time. Who knew that someone I just met a few months ago would bring me this much happiness? Alex pulled me into his arms and planted a soft kiss on my lips. My heart was still beating so fast.

“I’m glad you said yes. I’ve liked you since the first day we met. There was just something about you. I knew we were destined to be together,” he said before he kissed me even more passionately. I was happy that he felt that way about me. I could tell that I was starting to like him for a couple of weeks now. My thoughts were mainly about him.

“I’m glad I met you, Alex. You have made me happy since the first day we met. I love the feeling I get when I’m around you. You know what to say when I’m upset. You’ve been there for me when my friends have not,” I said while I snuggled into his arms.

“I feel like you’re used to being in my arms already,” Alex told me.

“You’ve pulled me into your arms so much…I did get used to being in them. Alex, I do have a request. Why don’t we pay a little visit to your house? Your mother would be delighted to see you. Your mother loves you with all her heart. She is probably extremely worried about you right now,” I responded.

“Sure, that sounds like a good idea. I need to pick up some more of my things,” Alex responded. I still couldn’t tell what he was thinking. I could see that his eyes were starting to fill with warmth. I feel like it’s because he’s holding me.

“Where do you plan on staying,” I asked him.

“I really don’t know right now. I may find a one bedroom apartment to rent out. I have enough money in my savings from working for the last couple of years. I just need to get a steady job. Once I find my new apartment I will start applying places. I hope I make everyone happy with my decision. My father will be happy, but my mother will be upset. What can I do? My father doesn’t want me,” he responded sadly.

“I can see you love your father even though you claim you hate him. You have a right to hate him. He was being rude to you. You shouldn’t have had to hear the words that he was spewing out. He wasn’t right with what he said. Your father probably does love you. He just doesn’t want to admit it to himself.”

“You’re probably right, honey, but I know when my father means something,” he said a little coldly. He was angry with his father. I would have been upset with my father if he ever did that to me or my brothers. I know my father would never do that though. He loves us with all his heart. (Even though Carson is no longer with us…) I don’t know how a father isn’t able to love his own child. He helped bring the child into the world.

“Okay, you should go get ready to go. You need some more clean clothes. You’re about Carson’s height. We still have some of his old clothes. Would you like to use something of his for now,” I asked.

“Sure, I don’t mind. I could use some clean clothes. I hate wearing dirty clothes,” he responded. I led Alex to our bathroom. He took a ten minute shower. He got dressed quickly and we left to go to his house.

We’re standing outside of Alex’s house. I could tell he was pretty nervous about being here. He grabbed my hand and held it tightly. I rang the doorbell. We didn’t know which of one his parents were going to answer the door. We hope that his mother answers the door. She wouldn’t have kicked him out like his father did.

Finally we heard footsteps walking towards the door. The door opened revealing his mother behind it. Her eyes were really red and puffy. She was surprised to see Alex standing in front of her.

“Alex, is that you,” she exclaimed happily. She was super happy to see her son. I wonder what his father told her after kicking Alex out.

“Yes, Mom, it’s me. Why are your eyes so puffy? Are you alright,” he asked.

“I thought you were dead! Your father told me you killed yourself! I can’t believe that idiot lied to me! Honey, I’m so glad to see that you’re alive and doing okay! You look a little bit thinner, but you’re maintaining yourself well. I’m so sorry, Alex,” she said. She was crying really hard. I can see how much his mother loves him and how much he loves her. It was a cute mother/son bond.

“I would never kill myself, Mom. I could never go out like that. I have so many people that are special to me. You’ve all made me happy. Mom, I would like you to meet my girlfriend, Aubrey,” Alex responded with a huge smile on his face. His mother looked up at me with her big blue eyes. She’s a very pretty woman. She looks very young to a mother, but I don’t know how old she is. She had the same color hair as Alex. He got his eye color from his dad.

Alex’s mother smiled at me and I smiled back. I was glad that his mother seemed to be a really nice person.

“What’s going on out here,” I heard a male voice from behind us. His voice boomed like thunder. I jumped a little bit because his voice was very cold. That must be his father. Alex pulled me towards him when his father came to the door. There was pain in his eyes. “Oh, it’s you. I thought I told you to never come back?”

“Don’t you ever tell me my son is dead again! I want a divorce! You’re banned from this house, Michael,” his mother screamed at him. Then his mother turned around quickly and punched his father so hard in the face. Alex looked extremely proud of his mother. I was happy with her. Now his father will understand how it feels to be kicked out. Maybe then he will understand how Alex feels about this whole thing. I could see how much stronger his mother is because of it. His father was about to smack his mother, but Alex grabbed his hand and twisted his father’s arm.

“Don’t ever lay a hand on my mother! Do you understand me,” Alex said in a venomous tone. I could feel chills going down my spine.

I was happy to know that Alex had a home he could return to now. I was glad that he was reunited with his mother. I tapped him on the shoulder while his father stalked away. “I have to get going, Alex. I will see you tomorrow.”

We kissed and then I walked home.

WOOOO ALEX'S MOTHER KICKS A*S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg and YAY I GOT TO HUG ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol and you had her show up, hug him, and leave like i said!!!! lol, love that. and ALEX'S MOM GETS A HIGH-FIVE~!
