Chapter 20

-At Nicholas’ House-

                “What are you doing here?” He yelled as soon as Nicole got out of her car. She was angry that he just yelled at her, but she was used to it. She was mentally abused by him and she was tired of it. She went over to him and slapped him hard across the face.

                “It’s over. I never want to see you again. You have ruined my life for the last time. Stay away from me. You’re worthless to me.” Nicole said. He raised his hand and slapped her hard in the face. She had tears streaming down her face. She ran over to me. I was angry at this point. I went over to him and slapped him in the face. He didn’t hit back. He was looking at his palm like Darry from the Outsiders did. He wasn’t used to hitting girls. He had never hit one a day in his life. He was just as shocked as Nicole. I went back over to her. I glared at Nicholas and he looked down.

                “You stay away from her. Do you hear me? She doesn’t need trash like you. You have treated her wrong since she you two started this relationship. How do you think she felt every time you made her feel bad about herself? Why do you think she wants out of this relationship? You abused her mentally. Maybe you should go through it and then understand what she is going through now. You’re a bad person. Don’t come near either of us ever again!” I yelled at him. I still couldn’t believe that he hit her in the face. Nicole was still crying really hard. I told her that I would drive home because she wasn’t in the mood to drive. I wouldn’t be in the mood to drive either.

                I was still in shock that Nicholas had the guts to hit my best friend in front of me. He is lucky I didn’t use a “switch” on him. I should have used it in the first place. That would have been the best option besides my fists. If you don’t know what a “switch” is please don’t ask me. It isn’t something I would like to share with the world.

-Home-

                We walked into my house, Nicole went into the living room to set up the Wii, and I went into my bedroom to check my phone. I had a message waiting. It was from Alex. “Hey babe, what are you up too?”

                “I’m not really up to anything. I have Nicole over and we are having a sleepover tonight. Her little sister is sleeping over too. I don’t mind her though. She is talking to Mason right now. Nicole is really upset right now.”

                “Why? What happened? Was it Nicholas?”

                “Of course it was. He slapped her across the face. She broke up with him. I slapped him back because I knew she didn’t have the strength too.”

                “I’m mad now. How could he be so disrespectful to her? That was just really messed up!”

                “I know, Alex, I’m mad too. I wanted to hit him with a switch.”

                “What is a switch?”

                “A switch is a tree branch.” I actually explained after all.

                “Why did you call it a switch?”

                “That’s what some people call it. I have to go, Alex. Nicole and I are going to be playing games, have a makeover party, and we are going to watch some movies. I will talk to you later, honey.”

                “Alright and send me a picture of you when you are made over. ;)”

                I stopped answering that message. I changed my clothes to get into my work out clothes. I always played in comfy clothes or unless I am about to leave then I will wear jeans. We turned on the games and we played. We were dancing to a couple of songs. Then we decided to get a good work out with the Michael Jackson game. That game is just really amazing. It makes me happy in many ways.

                Mason and Abbie joined in a couple of minutes later. I guess they were bored. I would have been after a while. I mean they could use this time to catch up, but I guess they didn’t want to. I’m just glad we had enough space for everyone. A little while later Nicole, Abbie, and I went to do some makeovers. I was turned into a sexy diva. I had too much revealing clothes. I took pictures like Alex asked. I bet he had a nose bleed with what I dressed up in. I had those clothes, but I would never wear them to school.

                Then we started to watch movies and they crashed in the middle of them. I was glad that I could at least go talk to my brother now. I needed too. We needed to have some bonding time. We barely get it because he is too busy with homework or vice versa.

                He came into my room liked I asked him. He still had that sad looked in his eyes. Like there was some pain that would set him off. He came to lay in my arms. I could feel warmth there. I know he would come sleep in my arms, but lately he hasn’t been. I don’t know why.

                “Brother, I just wanted to ask you something.”

                “What is it?”

                “Why do you have such a sad look in your eyes? What’s going through your mind?”

                “I have been just really stressed lately. I don’t know why my eyes look sad. I have been really happy lately. I guess I just have too much on my mind. It is really hard to express. I want to talk to you about it. We have been both so busy. I want to spend a day together just the two of us. Can we please have that day? I need to hang out with you.”

                “Okay, we can hang out just the two of us tomorrow? Do you want to go to the mall or bowling or something?”

                “Yes, I want to go to the mall.” Mason said with a smile. I figured out that he was sad because we haven’t been hanging out as much. It was my own fault because I have been with friends. I wish I had seen it in the beginning. I just want my little brother to be happy.

                He fell asleep in my arms and I sat up and cried. I just needed a good cry. It had been a while since I cried.
