Chapter 1

-3 Months Later-

“Hey honey, do you need anything?” Alex asked me. I was sitting in the living room with a book in my hand. It has been four months or so since I’ve been pregnant. I wasn’t so happy because I was showing just a little bit. I didn’t want to feel huge, but I knew I was going too. I didn’t mind because I knew there was a little person inside my belly.

“I’m fine, honey. You don’t need to do anything.” I said with a smile. He has been so sweet to me since we’ve been married. We were living on our own. I was working and so was he. I was going to be leaving work in about 3 months. I need to have at least six months off with my baby. I knew when I left the baby we would be sad.

I got a phone call a couple of seconds later. “Hey, it’s Aubrey. May I ask who is calling?”

“It’s Michelle, how are you, Aubrey?”

“I’m pretty good. How are you and little Jonathon Jr.?” I asked with a smile. She had the baby within our senior year so I didn’t get to see her that much. We are both nineteen now. She had the baby when she was 18. Her mother was really upset that she was pregnant and kicked her out of the house. She lives with Jonathon’s parents now. They help take care of the baby.

“He’s pretty good. He is a wild child now. He is nothing like his daddy. It’s been a long time since I’ve called you. How is your marriage going?”

“It’s been really well. I’m pregnant now! I am four months pregnant actually.” I said.

“It’s been that long since I’ve talked to you! Oh my Gosh! Congratulations. Do you know what you’re having yet?” She asked with a happy tone of voice.

“We are having a boy. I wanted a boy, but Alex wanted a girl. He wants another baby eventually. Right now we are going to focus on our little boy. Have you talked to your mother recently?”

“My son will have your son to play with now that I think about it! No, I haven’t talked to her, but I have talked to my dad. He said that mother was fine. How is Mason? Have you seen him?”

“It’s good that you have talked to your dad. Are you going to visit him? I have talked to Mason recently. I haven’t been able to see him yet. He is coming over to visit today actually. He should be here in about ten minutes. I’m just glad it’s Friday. He is coming to sleep over my house for the weekend. I know he’s missed me since I’ve moved away. When I talked to my mother she told me that he’s been crying a lot.” I said with some sadness in my tone. I know it was because he missed me. Plus I wasn’t there to hold him. I felt bad for leaving him, but he spent all his time in my arms when he comes to visit. He is excited to have a nephew. I know Mason wants to visit a lot more when his nephew is born. I can’t believe that Mason is going to be seventeen in the next couple of weeks.

“Awe, I’m so happy for you. I know you miss him. How old is he now? I am going to be visiting my father in the next week. He wants to see his grandson unlike my mother. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. She is going to regret that decision. I am the only child she has. I would figure she would want a grandson.” Michelle said. I knew she wanted to cry. She hated that her mother didn’t want to have anything to do with her. I would feel the same way if my mother felt the same way. I knew it would kill Alex if his mother felt the same way. I felt really bad for Michelle who did start to cry.

“Do you want to have a girl’s night out soon? I would think it would help you. I know you need some time to be with friends. The baby probably has had made you busy. I think he will be okay without you for one day.”

“He will be, he loves his grandparents. I would love to have a girl’s night out. How has Nicole been? I haven’t talked to her in a while. Have you been in touch with her?”

“Not really, she is going on her honeymoon right now. She is in the Bahamas at the moment. I know she is probably having a good time. I hope she is anyway.” I said with a smile. Nicole had recently just gotten married. I was the maid of honor at her wedding. She was happy that I was able to make it. I had to take off of work that day. My boss didn’t really mind. He actually likes me over a lot of the other employees. I do what I am told unlike the other workers. It’s actually pretty sad.

“I hope she is too! I feel bad that I couldn’t go to the wedding. The baby was sick and I didn’t want to take him out when he was sick. I hope that I can do what is best for him.” Michelle said with a motherly tone.

“She understood she wasn’t mad. She was a little sad that you didn’t get to go. She missed having you as company.” I said. Michelle and Nicole have gotten to be pretty close. We were all close with her now.

“I’m glad. Hey, well I’m going to go now. I have to go feed Jonathon. He is going to get cranky if I don’t feed him soon.” Michelle said with a laugh. I laughed with her. We said our goodbyes and then I hung up. I left the couch and went into the bedroom. Alex was sleeping because he had work in a few hours. He always took a nap around this time. I crawled into his arms to take a nap.
