Chapter 4

Mason was still holding me when Alex came home. He looked beat and I knew he was. If I had been at work at ten o’clock at night I would be exhausted myself. I work from 10 in the morning to 3 o’clock. I make at least ten dollars an hour. More than what the other people make. It’s basically because they don’t really do their work. I work as hard as I can because I want to have enough money to pay our bills and save money for the baby that was on the way.

Alex looked worried when he saw me. I was shaking and crying because that dream scared me. It scared me so much, but I wasn’t able to tell anyone about it because it would have set me off crying again. Alex walked over to me and took me into his arms. I could feel myself starting to calm down.

“Sis, are you okay?” Mason said softly. I could tell he was feeling a little down. I think it was because he wasn’t able to calm me down as much as Alex. I felt bad and pulled him into my arms.

“I’m fine. I’m sorry, Mason. I just had a really bad dream. I will tell you about that in the morning.” I said. I didn’t want him to feel bad. I looked at Alex and he nodded. He went into our bedroom. I helped ease Mason back to sleep. I was going to be there for him as much as I could. I needed to talk to Alex. I wanted to tell him that I was spending the night in Mason’s room.

I got up went into my room. Alex was sitting on the bed. He smiled at me when I entered our room. “Alex, I think I’m going to lay down with Mason tonight. He is really upset that he wasn’t able to calm me down. I think he just needs me. Do you mind?”

“No, I don’t mind. He is your brother after all. He needs you more right now. He looked really sad when I entered the room anyway.”

“Thanks so much, honey!” I said and gave him the biggest kiss on the cheek. I was so happy that I could spend more time with my brother. He was going to be here the whole weekend. I had to work in the morning. So I went into the room that Mason was sleeping in and fell asleep. I was glad that I didn’t have that dream again.

-The Next Day-

I was going to be leaving Mason for a while today. He was going to spend the day with Alex today. He didn’t mind because that was his brother in law. I got up to cook breakfast for the three of us. I made eggs, toast, and bacon. I made the bacon for the boys. I didn’t really care for bacon, but I knew they did.

“Thanks for breakfast, sis! This tastes great!” Mason said and smiled at me. I smiled back and then got ready for work. I had a lot of stuff to do before I left. I had to wash some dishes and other chores before I left. It was an hour before I had to work. I heard on knock on the door. At the door there was a dirty blond hair. She had red shiny lipstick on her lips.

“Is Alex here?” She asked innocently.

“Yes, and I may I ask who you are.” I said with politeness. I wasn’t going to be rude to someone that I just met. If she crossed the line then I would be a little rude. She just smiled at me and didn’t say anything just yet. This girl was beginning to get on my nerves. Why is she here and why was she looking for my husband?

Alex came out of the bedroom. He dropped his cell phone when he saw who was at the door. I was worried about who she was. Alex looked like he had seen a ghost. He smiled at her a couple of seconds later.

“Alex!” She said and jumped into his arms. She tried to make it look like she owned him. She kissed him on the lips. He pushed her back and looked at me. I could feel tears coming into my eyes. I didn’t want to cry, but I didn’t even know who this girl was.

“What are you doing here, Melody?” Alex asked. She pouted and she tried to kiss him again. I was crying harder. I ran into our bedroom and locked the door. I could hear Alex pounding on the door. “Aubrey, she doesn’t mean anything to me. You are the only girl for me! Don’t cry. I’m really sorry.”

“Go away!”

“Honey, please don’t be upset!” Alex said and got the door unlocked. I curled into a ball. I was crying. I wasn’t in the mood to go to work today. I was going to call in sick. I was crying hard. Darn you emotions! I knew it didn’t mean anything, but I couldn’t help but cry.

“How can I not be upset?! Some random girl just came into the house and kissed you on the lips! Are you cheating on me?” I asked crying hard.

“No, I would never cheat on you! I love you so much. I asked you to marry me and we are having a baby together. Do you really think I would cheat on you now?” He asked me.

“No, I’m sorry, but everything is happening so fast. Who is she?”

“That is my ex-girlfriend, Melody. I don’t even know why she is here. I don’t love her so she is just wasting her time coming here.” He said. He pulled me into his arms and held me. Melody was standing in front of the door. She looked like she was going to cry. I didn’t really care about her feelings. He was my husband and not hers!

“I love you, Alex. Why don’t you understand that?” She asked crying a little.

“I am with Aubrey now. You aren’t worth anything to me. Why don’t you just leave? You are complicating things.” He said and glared at her. Before she left the girl glared at me. I was wondering what was going to happen in the next. I hate when other girls try to come snatch up my territory.
