Chapter 5

I heard the door slam as the girl left. I could tell she was really upset. Well she was trying to steal my man. She had another thing coming to her. I was not going to allow her to come into my relationship with Alex.

“I love you so much, Aubrey. I would never hurt you like that. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. My mom loves you to death and I do to. I don’t want you to worry. She isn’t worth anything to me. She is an ex for a reason.” Alex said to me. I calmed down a little bit. I called my boss and told him that I was taking off for the day. He said he didn’t mind, but he sounded a little disappointed. I promised him that I would be in tomorrow.

Mason came into the room and sat next to me on the bed. He gave me a big hug and I smiled. It made me feel better. That got Mason to smile more. He looked at Alex and Alex looked down. “Alex, it’s not your fault. I know you wouldn’t hurt Aubrey in any way. That girl looked like she would sleep with the whole town if she could.”

“I know. She sleeps around a lot. I broke up with her a long time ago. I don’t know why she is trying to get back into my life. I don’t love her anymore. I don’t think she realizes that. I don’t know how I can explain it to her anymore. Aubrey, please don’t worry. I won’t let her get to me. I love you more than the world. You are amazing and you have made me happy. You have taken care of me for the last two years. You’re the first girl that has ever cared for me like that.” Alex said and smiled.

“Aubrey, do you think we could go somewhere next week? I know you have off on the weekends. Why are you working this weekend?” Mason asked me.

“I had to do a whole bunch of things over the week. I had actually been sick this week. I went to the doctor to see what I could do. My boss understood so I promised him that I would work this weekend. Now I’m not going in today. I need to go in tomorrow. I may work longer than I have ever done, but I want to make up those hours. Alex, tomorrow can you find something else to eat? I know you want a home cooked meal, but I don’t know if I will be up to cooking.”

“Sure, honey. I don’t mind eating out. Hey, do you guys want to go out to eat? It’s my treat!” Alex said with a smile on his face.

“Sure, I would love to go!” I said with enthusiasm. Then a question entered my mind. How did that girl even get to our house? How did she find out where Alex and I lived? I looked down at the ground and then back up at Alex. He was worried because of the look in his eyes. He was questioning whether or not to ask. I didn’t really want him too, but if he did I don’t know.

“I would love to go as well if it makes you happy sis that’s all that matters.” Mason said with a smile. I gave him a hug and kiss on the cheek. Both Alex and Mason both knew what to say when it came to me.

We went out to dinner at the local place. I didn’t want to go to some fancy restaurant. I ordered a salad at first. The boys order cheese fries for an appetizer. I both knew they were going to be getting burgers and fries. I was going to get something other than that. I actually was craving a slice of pizza. I order that while the boys ordered burgers. I was sitting their staring off into space. I was snapped out of it when I was asked if I wanted to desert. I wasn’t really in the mood to have anything sweet. So I just sat there while they ate their desserts. I went back into space mode. We were going to be leaving in ten minutes or so. The boys were too busy talking while they were waiting. It was taking so long for the desserts to get here. When I looked up there was Melody on the other side of the restaurant. She was glaring bullets at me with her ocean blue eyes. I glared right back. She got up from her table.

“Alex, I didn’t know you would be here!” She said taking his arm. I pushed her away from Alex. Alex pulled me into his arms and kissed me.

“For the last time, Melody, I don’t have any feelings for you. I’m married to Aubrey and that’s how it’s going to stay! Go back to Brad because he is the only guy you are ever going to get.” Alex said coldly towards her. I was starting to wonder if she had followed us to the restaurant. I bet she did.

“But I love you Alex. Don’t you love me?”

“No, how many times do I have to repeat? I love Aubrey and that’s how it is. I don’t love you anymore. You are worthless to me. Now leave me alone.” He said even more coldly than before. I was so glad that Alex had chosen me over than bimbo. That made me happier than anything in the world. I kissed Alex on the cheek. He smiled and then paid for the check because he decided to get to desserts to go. He didn’t want to bother with Melody anymore and I didn’t want him to be bothered with her either. While we walking away I heard her say, “This isn’t over.”

I looked over at her and mouthed the words, “It’s over for you. He doesn’t love you. Now please just leave us alone.”

She just continued to glare and I knew this was going to be a long fight over Alex. I was going to have a bad time because of her. I don’t know why people like to come and ruin my happiness. Alex glared at Melody as we left. She looked down so sadly it was really pathetic. I am glad that Alex loved me and he didn’t love her. I was glad that Alex and I were married. I began to wonder how long it would take for us to get rid of Melody.
