ONB-Chapter 6

Chapter 6

                The next day I had to get up to go to work. Mason was in my room looking at the little bump in my stomach. I felt a kick in my tummy. It was the first one I felt. I was so happy to feel my little guy kick. I smiled wide. Mason’s hand was on my tummy at that moment too. “How does it feel to be pregnant?”

                “It’s an emotional rollercoaster. I go through so many emotions through one day. I think Alex isn’t home when I am because I can get pretty cranky.” I laughed. Mason laughed with me. I was happy that I got him to laugh. He has been bonding with Alex more because they were both into sports. I wasn’t the one that was into sports.

                “Don’t you hate being emotional?”

                “Yes, I do. I hate it so much sometimes…never mind I’m not going to finish my thought.” I told him. He shrugged and left the room so I could finally get finished getting ready for work. I cooked breakfast for the three off us, ate, and then was out the door.

-At Work-

                I was taking orders like crazy. I was getting pretty tired of working, but I had to get the work done. I was getting a little cranky. I think I was cranky because I didn’t really get enough sleep. I was thinking about what has been going on in life. Why when I’m happy does my life have to get ruined? I really want to know why? I know I wasn’t going to get an answer to that question, but oh well. I looked over at the clock. It was only five P.M. another few hours and I would be out of work. My boss was going to let me go home early. I was working for seven hours.

                “Can I get a coffee and a bagel to go, please?” A woman said. She was holding on to a little boy’s hand. He was crying and he looked like he wanted something. I was going to give him a cookie and pay for it myself. When I gave him the cookie he calmed down. The woman smiled at me and paid me for the cookie as well. I just wanted to make my customers happy.

                Then a girl I recognized came up to my register. I was the only one working the register at the moment. She was glaring at me from where she stood. I knew that it was Melody. Why did she have to show up at my place of business? “Can I please have your order? Is it for here or to go?”

                I tried to sound as polite as I could. I wasn’t too happy to see her and she wasn’t too happy to see me either. “I would like an order of pancakes for here. Actually dear do you think I can talk to you for a few minutes?”

                I raised my eyebrow at her. I asked my boss if I could have a ten minute break. He let me go and I sat on down at my usual table. Melody walked over to the table. Her blue eyes were piercing at me. I could feel a lot of tension in the air. I don’t even know why she bothered showing up here. “What do you need to talk to me for? I don’t really have the patience for you.”

                “I need you to stay away from my man! Alex was mine before you showed up. I want him back and I will take him from you if I have too. First of all you look really fat. Second who wouldn’t want this body over that?” She asked showing me her physique. I guess she figured I was into girls when I was not.

                “First of all, Alex is my husband. Second you don’t have any ownership of him at all. He doesn’t even want you. Third, I am pregnant and that doesn’t make me fat. Get your facts straight before you start saying things.” I said.

                “Well if he doesn’t like me then why would he come stay at my place last night?” That was a low blow. I knew Alex didn’t even leave the room last night. I was with him and Mason all night. Then I fell asleep. I doubt Alex would have left without telling me. He tells me when he is about to go someplace. I looked over at her and she had a smile on her face.

                “I doubt he would even waste his time on you. He is trying to get through your thick skill that he loves me now. Nothing will ever change that. He doesn’t even know why you are coming into our life now. Are you trying to ruin his happiness? He is happy with me. His mother loves me and she welcomed me into their family with open arms. I doubt she ever did that with you. I heard all the rumors that were spread around about you. Alex even said in front of me that you slept around when you were with him. I don’t think he loves you as much as he claimed.” I said. Melody looked really angry and slapped me in the face.

                “If I ever catch you hanging around my man again we will have problems. He wouldn’t have come to me last night if he didn’t want me. I swear you aren’t good enough for him. I hope you get hurt seriously badly some day. I bet Alex complains about you when he’s at work.” Melody said then she finished her order and left. I was left there and I knew I was going to start crying pretty soon. I went into the women’s bathroom because I had to go anyway. I sat on the toilet and all the tears started to pour out. I was crying supper hard. I didn’t even want to leave the bathroom. Another employee that worked with me knocked on the stall door. I opened it and she handed me a paper towel to wipe my tears.

                “Are you okay, Mrs. Aubrey?” She asked respectfully. She was a little bit younger than me, but not by much.

                “I’ll be fine, thank you, Carmen.” I said with a smile. She smiled back and gave me a hug. Carmen is a nice girl. I really enjoyed working with her. Actually my boss liked me and her.

                “You’re welcome. If you ever need a friend to talk to you could always talk to me.” She said with a smile.            

                “I would love to take you up on that offer. How about we go out to dinner after our shift is over? I really need to have some girl’s time.  I can’t wait for my friend Michelle to do it. She is too busy with her baby. I will hang out with her soon.” I told Carmen.

                “I would love to. Let me make a phone call to my parents and let them know that I will be late tonight.” She said with happiness. I knew in the long run I was going to make another great friend. I knew I could take to her about anything.

UGHH shes such a ITCH...more then Michelle was.! Like I don't believe Alex went to her house, and shes such a stalker, showing up at her house, showing up at the resturant showing up at her work. What else the Hospital for the Baby doctors? Lol that would be so funny :)
