ONB-Chapter 7A Chapter by Angie Diane♥♥Chapter 7 -End of the Shift- “Hey Alex, I will be home late tonight. I am going out with one of my friends at work. I hope you don’t mind. I just need a little girl time.” I sent Alex that text. I knew I was going to get an answer faster than I normally would when we were just dating. Alex has gotten better at texting back, but I figured he was having bonding time with my brother. “Okay, I’m going to call you before you leave though. I have a couple of things to talk to you about.” Alex sent back. I just replied with an okay. I gestured to Carmen that I was going to be outside. She nodded because she was on the phone with her parents. Alex called me a couple of seconds later. “Hey babe, are you okay? I want to check on you and what do you want Mason and me to eat for dinner? Do you want me to cook something or do you want us to go out?” That made me laugh and I could feel Alex smiling on the other end of the phone. “I would like it if you two just went out to eat. I don’t want to have to come home and clean up after you two. You two make the biggest messes. Remember the pizza incident at my house before we moved? Do you really want to go near the stove after that?” I said giggling. “Not really. I think we will go out to eat then. You sound a little upset though, honey. Is everything okay?” “No, it’s not, but I would like to talk about it when I get home. I would rather be face to face when we talk.” I said over the phone. “Alright, I will see you when we get home. Oh one more thing, do you want me to drop Mason off in the morning?” “I’ll do it, honey. I know you need your beauty sleep.” I said laughing. “You are so getting tickled when you come home.” Alex said. I smiled into the phone and told him that I had to go. I wanted to drive over to a diner. I couldn’t wait to talk to another girl about problems. It’s hard living with a man at times. Carmen came outside just in the nick of time. I was glad that we were both ready to go. The car ride to the diner was silent until she saw where we were going. “We don’t need to go here. It can get a little pricy.” “Don’t worry. I will pay for your dinner for you!” I said with a big smile on my face. “You really don’t have to do this.” Carmen said, but she sounded really grateful. “I don’t mind paying for it!” I said and got out of my car and we walked into the diner. We were seated right away. Tonight I decided that I was going to get a salad and my entrée chicken parmesan sandwich. I loved the taste of that sandwich. “You can get anything you want on the menu. I don’t care how expensive it is!” I said with a big smile on my face. “Thank you so much, Mrs. Aubrey. I can’t thank you enough for this.” She said with a big smile. I had to smile back at her. Her green eyes were really pretty in the light. I wonder if anyone has ever told her that before. “I have been wondering. Has anyone ever told you how pretty your eyes look in the light? You can see a sparkle in them. They are just so cute. I wish I had green eyes or blue. I got brown, but they are pretty dark. My eyes almost look black.” “I have heard it before, but only from my parents. They tell me a lot of things. Some things I really don’t want to know about.” She said with a laugh. I laughed to because I had the same problems with my parents when I was younger. “I have been there. Thank you so much for what you did earlier. That made my day because you have such a beautiful personality.” “You do too, ma’am.” That made me smile brighter. I was glad that someone thought that my personality was beautiful. Carmen looked at me and she looked worried. I realized that I had started to cry a little bit. I was just so happy that someone thought I was nice. I mean she didn’t know me that well. If I was talking to Nicole she would have told me the same thing. Nicole has told me that I had a beautifully personality many times. Alex now tells me as well. My thoughts were interrupted when a waiter came by. I got lemonade for drink and I ordered my usual salad. Carmen ordered lemonade and salad too. “Thank you.” I said. I was starving when they brought my food. I ate my salad slowly. I made sure that I had a serving size of dressing. I hated having too much. I was watching my calorie count actually. I knew I was going to gain weight with the baby. I didn’t really mind that because it is all part of the pregnancy. “Why were you crying in the bathroom today, ma’am? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, but I don’t like seeing nice people cry is all.” She said with a sad look on her face. I could tell she was sincere with what she said. “It was drama with this girl. She is after my husband who doesn’t even like her. He is married to me and he has a child on the way.” I said. “I’m sorry this has gone on. It makes me feel bad for you. I hope that this never happens to anyone. I have never been in this situation, but my mother and father have. My father’s ex stalked them when they started dating.” She said. “That is pretty scary.” I said feeling bad for her. While we were in the middle of talking our food came. I couldn’t wait to dig in. First I did a prayer and then I dug in. Then I started to think…what if Melody was right. What if Alex didn’t love me anymore? What if he wanted her? I knew when I got home that I would get those answers out of him. That set me off crying again. That alarmed my guest. She was worried I could tell, but I needed to get home sooner. As soon as I finished this dinner though.
