Chapter 9

-The Next Morning-

I had to work again today, but I was going to get off at normal time. I wasn’t in the mood to go to work today, but I had too. I knew that I was going to hear the story about Melody today when Alex got home from work. I didn’t like his hours and neither did he.

I was going to be driving Mason home today. I was sad that he was leaving. I know he came to sleep in my arms last night. When I woke up he was laying on my chest. I wonder if he had a bad dream. I guess he did because he loved being in my arms around that time.

“I’m so sad you’re leaving today. I know we are going out next week. I can’t wait for that. What do you want to do that day?”

“I want to go to the mall and maybe we could go out to dinner. I know you have been out to dinner a lot, but I want to. We never got to go out to eat after I got hit by the car. Do you think we can, sis?”

“Of course. I would love to take you out to dinner. We could actually catch up because we didn’t really get to catch up this weekend. I feel bad that I had to work, but I do have to have some money to put food on the table and I need to pay the bills with Alex.” I said.

“It’s alright. I know you had to work because you had been sick. Was it scary for you to be sick?”

“Yes, it was because I didn’t know if the baby was okay. I needed to go to the doctor. Alex stayed home with me to take care of me. I’m glad that he did because he got me everything I needed.” I said. Mason smiled and looked down at the ground. I knew something was troubling him. I was in the middle of cooking him a pancake before we left. I knew he needed some breakfast.

“I’m just glad that I am on winter break. Do you think Mom would let me stay with you for another couple of days? I don’t want to go home yet. I didn’t get to catch up with you. I mean I did see all the new drama. You know what? I will just go home and wait for the weekend. I know you need to go to work.” Mason said sadly.

“I don’t mind if you stay here, Mason. It would be fun to have you. You could bond with Alex some more. I think it’s cool that you two get along! I love that a lot.” I said to Mason.

“I will call Mom! I will just need more clothes. If you drive me home I will have mother drive me back.” Mason said happily. I knew that he still needed to have some time with me. We didn’t really have our bonding moment. Thanks to Melody for ruining my life and work. I still had to go in today, but I didn’t mind. I would be fine just as long as Melody didn’t come into my place of business again today.

-After Work-

Alex and I were sitting on the couch. I was lying in his arms. I was tired from my shift it was pretty busy. Alex was rubbing my hair. It always made me tired when he did that but I knew I couldn’t go to sleep. I had things to do. I had laundry, dinner, and cleaning to do. I hated doing that, but I had too. I want my house to be clean. Alex helps me out with cleaning.

“Honey, don’t make me go to sleep. I need to clean and cook for you.” I said.

“You need a nap. Please go to sleep. Mason is coming back right?”

“Yes, he is, but he won’t be back until Friday now. He said he needed to be home for a couple of days. Mother wants him to be home. She is upset that he would rather stay with me than with her.” I said.

“I see. Well please take a nap now. I will clean the kitchen and living room for you. I will wake you up when I’m hungry. Also we still need to talk about Melody and my relationship. I know you would love to hear about that.” Alex said. He was rubbing my hair again. I was happy that he was going to help around the house. He was the best man I have ever met. I kissed him on the lips and was happy.

“I know I’m going to hear that today.” I said and my eyes closed for a little while.

When I woke up the living room and kitchen were spotless! I got up and found Alex was sleeping in the room. I didn’t know what to make for dinner. I decided to go to the grocery store. I would shop around there to decide what to make for dinner.

I left Alex a note telling him that I would be home soon. I was going out to the store.

I got into my car and went to the grocery store. I didn’t hate shopping, but I didn’t know what to buy. I knew I would be here for a while. When I got to the store I saw what meats were on sale. I decided to get turkey meat. I wanted to make chili for dinner. I got everything I needed for the chili. I hope Alex would like this chili.

I got home and I started dinner. Then I was going to prepare myself for a story that Alex was going to tell me. I was happy that I didn’t run into Melody today. I didn’t have to hear her telling me that Alex was going to her. That Alex was cheating on me with her. I didn’t hear her mouth telling me so many false things. I didn’t have to hear Alex defending himself to me. If you could tell that I really disliked her. When I got into the driveway I got a phone call. It was from Alex.

“Hey honey, I’m in the driveway. What’s wrong?”

“I didn’t know where you were. I was afraid. Did you leave me a note?”

“Yes, I did. I’m sorry for scaring you. I’m about to come in and make dinner. How does Turkey chili sound to you?”

“It sounds yummy.” I said. Then I got out of the car and walked into the house. I gave Alex a kiss on the lips and smiled. I started dinner and Alex looked like he was preparing for telling me the story.
