ONB-Chapter 15

Chapter 15

-Alex-

                Everything that happened was my fault.  I feel bad that I couldn’t protect Aubrey. I should have been able to protect her. Melody really screwed up by shooting my wife. How could she? Couldn’t she get that I don’t lover her anymore. Aubrey is the one for me. I hope that she and our little baby survives.  He is only 16 weeks old and he hopefully won’t die. Hopefully the doctors will be able to save the both of them.

                I tried to drive as fast as I could to the hospital, but I had to obey the traffic laws. Also Mason was in the car with me. Aubrey would kill me if he got hurt in any way. The paramedics said they are going to have to do a surgery on her. They don’t know how long she will be out of it. I want her to be pulled out of it. I didn’t want her to be in pain either, but I knew she would be.

                When I got to the parking lot with Mason and we ran straight to the nurse’s desk. They told us that Aubrey was still in surgery. I asked her if the baby survived. She didn’t have an answer. I was sad, but I truly didn’t know. Mason went outside to call his parents. I want to sue Melody for what she has done. So many thoughts were racing through my head. I didn’t hear Mason call my name. I looked up at him. He was crying a little bit, but that was expected. I couldn’t cry. I wanted to be strong for my little boy and my wife.

                “My parents are on their way to the hospital.” He said quietly. He sat down next to me. I knew he needed support too. Aubrey was his sister after all. I knew it was harder on him because of the bond they have. I love her a lot and I knew I couldn’t stand for her to be in that much pain.

                “Okay, Mason, are you going to be okay?” I asked him.

                “As soon as I find out how Aubrey is. And I am wondering about the baby too. I know she loves him. I hope we don’t lose him.” He said. I just nodded and we went into silence. About fifteen minutes later his parents showed up. They were angry and sad. We didn’t speak much because we were waiting for the doctor to come out.

-A Couple Hours Later-

                The doctor finally came out. He had good news for us! I was glad that they had good news and he also said there was some bad news.

                “Which would you like to hear first?” The doctor asked with a small smile.

                “The bad news…then the good news.” I spoke out for the family. They just nodded.

                “The bad news is that Aubrey is in a small coma. She will come out of it in a couple of days. We are just glad that none of her major organs were hit. For the good news the baby survived. He is going to have to be here for a while though. He is tiny and he needs to gain weight before he can leave. It may be a couple of months. If you would like he is in the Intensive Care Unit. If you would like to go see him and Aubrey is in room 134.” The doctor than walked away and we decided who was going to see the baby and who was going to Aubrey. Mason and I were going to go see the baby first and then we were going to switch.

                I didn’t know what to name the baby though. I know that Aubrey wanted to name him Vladimir Alexander. I was going to go with that name. I wanted her to be happy. He was the only baby in the ICU. It was really sad that he was even there. I asked the nurse to see the baby. She knew I was the father because he looked like me and Aubrey. She brought me to the window and we could see him in the incubator. He was so tiny. I could feel tears falling down my cheeks. He was really cute.

                “What would you like to name him?” the nurse asked him.

                “Vladimir Alexander.” I said and smiled. I knew that Aubrey would be happy. I put my hand in his incubator. He was sleeping, but he could sense me and he grabbed my finger. I smiled really wide. I was happy that he grabbed my finger. I was hoping she would come out of that coma soon. I was dying without her.

and i hope Aubrey comes out of her comma soon, i don't like seeing her hurt.
