ONB-Chapter 18A Chapter by Angie Diane♥♥Chapter 18 Today we were going to see Alex’s mother and father. Alex called his mother yesterday. I was bathing the baby. He didn’t like the water so he was crying. I picked him up and wrapped him in a towel. I was drying him off. I put some baby lotion on him to keep his skin nice and soft. Then I put a diaper on him. After that I put him in a little one piece outfit. He was looking up at me. I sat down on the couch with him. I didn’t shower yet, but I needed too. I was waiting for Alex to get out of the shower. The baby was making little baby noises. It was really cute to hear. Vlad was holding onto my finger. He had a pretty strong grip for a little baby. I tried to pull my finger away but he wouldn’t let me. He had his other hand in his mouth. I just smiled at him. He didn’t know how to smile yet nor laugh. I couldn’t wait to see him laugh and smile. I was getting impatient with Alex because he had been in the shower too long. I finally got up with Vlad and knocked lightly on the door. Alex had opened the door and he was towel drying his hair. I was sighing. “Alex, I need you to get dressed quickly. You have to watch the baby while I shower. He may get cranky so you are going to have to give him a bottle. He hasn’t eaten in a little while. So please hurry. You know how I don’t like to keep people waiting.” “I know, I know. I’ll be dressed in a couple of minutes. Hold your horses, love.” He said and kissed me. He went into our bedroom and got dressed. He came out in five minutes. I gave him the baby. Vlad instantly started to cry. I showed Alex how to make a bottle. He wasn’t used to this baby stuff yet. I was more used to it because I had helped with Mason. When Vlad was drinking the bottle he calmed down. I knew he was going to be looking for me. I hopped in the shower. I let the warm water soak my body. It felt really nice. I felt like I could drown all my sorrows in the water. I was out in ten minutes. Alex was burping the baby. Vlad was starting to get tired. He fell asleep. I put him in his car seat and we started down the road to his mother’s house. It wouldn’t take that long, but getting a baby ready takes a while. Finally it took a while, but we had gotten there. I took the car seat out of the back of the car. Vlad was still sleeping. I was glad because I didn’t want him to be cranky when he met his grandparents. Alex knocked on the door while I held the car seat. His mother answered a couple of seconds later. She was happy to see her son. She gave him a big squeeze. I smiled because I haven’t seen her so happy in a long time. Then it was my turn to be hugged. I really couldn’t hug her because I was holding the car seat. I didn’t know if his mother noticed the car seat. I gave Alex the car seat and hugged his mother tightly. “It’s been such a long time since I’ve seen you, Aubrey. You look as well as ever.” His mother said kissing me on the cheek. I just smiled I didn’t know what to say. I noticed that his mother had looked more tired and was starting to get a little paler. I don’t think she was sleeping enough. I looked over at Alex who looked worried. His mother then looked down at the car seat. I could see tears falling down her eyes. She knew we had the baby, but she didn’t see him yet. I asked her if we could go in before she held him. She nodded and we walked into the house. I took the baby out of the car seat. He was still sleeping. I knew that he would be. Vlad sleeps at least a couple of hours before he wakes up from hunger and or wants to be awake. “Awe, isn’t he just precious! Can I hold him?” Alex’s mother squealed. “Of course you can.” She sat down in the chair and I put him into her arms. I was surprised that he didn’t wake up from the squeal. It was somewhat loud. The baby started to shift in her arms until he was comfortable. It was cute to watch Vlad when he was sleeping. I was glad that he was actually good. “He’s really cute.” She said. “Thanks, mom.” Alex said in a worried tone. While she held the baby I noticed that his mother had bruises on her. I looked over at Alex. “Honey, can I talk to you for a couple of minutes in the car?” “Sure, I would love to.” I said. “Mom, can you watch Vlad for me?” Alex said with worry still in his tone. “Sure, honey.” She said and looked down at Vlad. We both smiled and went out into the car. For the first few minutes we were quiet. I knew that something was going on. I didn’t know what was going on. Alex looked like he was getting angrier every second. “Do you think you’re father’s abusing her, Alex?”I asked quietly. I looked down at the ground. I knew something was going to go down. I wasn’t trying to have an argument while the baby is there, but it happened anyway. “You are correct in your thinking.” Alex said. “So what do you want to do about it?” I asked. “I want to talk to my father.” Alex said in a dangerous tone. I knew this was not going to be good. I knew there were going to be explosions…and I didn’t want the baby there for those. I didn’t want him to hear the fight. I knew he wouldn’t understand, but he would cry. © 2012 Angie Diane♥♥ |
