Chapter 21

Today was the first day that I was going to go visit my job with Little Vlad. Alex was coming with us to get some food from there. I was going to order something as well. I was just glad that they had baby chairs within this place. I put Vlad inside. He was confused. We didn’t buy a high chair for him just yet.

He looked like he was about to cry. I just picked him up and he was calm within seconds. I was glad for that. I didn’t like to see him cry. It made me feel like I was doing something wrong. I knew he was a mama’s boy too. He didn’t like to be away from me for long periods of time.

“He really won’t leave your arms at all, honey.” Alex said with a laugh. I smiled and I put a bottle in Vlad’s mouth. I wasn’t going to breast feed him in public. Vlad didn’t seem to mind the bottle. I’m just glad that he wasn’t falling asleep. I wanted him to be awake for my coworkers to see him. My boss walked out from the back of the store. He saw me sitting there and he was surprised to see me. I got up with Vlad and walked over to my boss.

“Good afternoon, sir.” I said giving him a tiny hug. Vlad looked up at him. He made a little face and it made me smile. My boss smiled down at Vlad. Vlad didn’t know how to smile yet. He just looked at him with his wide little eyes. I still smiled and Vlad tried to smile, but he still couldn’t because he was still too little.

“It’s been a while Aubrey. How have you been?” He said with a smile. I knew that he was happy to see me. He hasn’t seen me since I had Vladimir. And boy was he a handful so it is hard to go out with him sometimes. He is a mama’s boy. He can’t stand being away from me for more than five minutes. I think it’s really cute that he is a mama’s boy.

“I have been really tired lately. My son has been keeping me up. I love him to death, but I am really tired.” I said. Vlad just made baby noises. I thought those noises were really cute. I was starting to smell poop and Vlad was starting to cry. Alex took him from me and took him into the bathroom to change him. He knew that I wanted to catch up with my coworkers.

“That is understandable because babies are major responsibility. He is really cute though. I’m glad that you stopped by. Everyone has missed you. I also heard that you had gotten shot. I was super worried that you and Vlad weren’t going to make it. I’m glad that everything had gone well. I’m glad that you are still alive and you have your little boy.” My boss said giving me a bigger hug. I could feel tears coming into my eyes. I knew that my boss was worried about me. I would have been worried if my boss had gotten shot too. I felt really bad that I put everyone through that. No one knew when I was going to wake up. I was surprised that I even went into a coma in the first place.

“I’m really sorry that I put everyone through that. Who knew that I was going to get shot in the first place? Melody was insane. She would come in here while I was working. She could have hurt me. She could have killed me. I’m so glad that she is in prison. I hate thinking about her. I’m scared that she is going to hurt me.” I said shaking a little bit. I could hear crying as I started crying. I turned around and saw that Alex had come back. Vlad was crying as he was looking at me. I tried to calm myself down. I grabbed Vlad and rocked him. He had fallen asleep. I put him in the car seat. Alex grabbed me into a hug. I didn’t mean to cry. I knew my boss didn’t like to see me cry either. Most men don’t like to see girls cry. Alex was trying to calm me down. When I did I hugged my boss. I could see that he was getting upset.

“I shouldn’t have brought that up. I’m really sorry. I’m glad that you are okay though. I should tell Carmen that you are here. She has been missing you. She is cooking today. She asked me if she could and I told her yes. So I will tell her you are here.” My boss said and went into the back to get Carmen. It had been a while since I have seen her. I knew that she missed me because she had recently sent me a message. I sent her a message back, but when I had gotten her second message I was giving Vlad a bath. Then I gave him a bottle and he went to bed. I fell asleep with him. He is starting to only fall asleep on my chest. It’s easier to take care of him when he is lying on my chest. Carmen came out of the back and was really excited to see me. She ran into my arms and gave me the biggest hug that she could muster. I hugged her back and she had a really big smile on her face.

“Aubrey! I missed you so much! I am so happy to see you!” Carmen said with tears in her eyes. I gave her another hug. Alex had a smile on his face because she gave him a hug too. I smiled at her and we had gotten into a conversation.

“I missed you too! It’s been a while. I’m sorry I couldn’t answer back. I was taking care of Vlad.” I said with a small smile.

“Where is he?! I want to see him.” She said with excitement. I picked him up and he didn’t stir. He was a sleepy little boy. I handed him to Carmen. Her eyes glowed. She seemed so happy to finally meet my little boy. I was going to have to bring him to my parents as well. Mason wanted to see his nephew and my parents want to see their grandson. “Awe, he is so cute!”

“Thank you.” We had a small conversation and then Alex said we had to go because it was getting late and he had to work in a couple of hours. We said our goodbyes and hugged. It was so great to see everyone.
