Chapter 22

Today we were going to visit my parents' because they wanted to see Vladimir. It has been a while since I have seen them because I have been with my baby. He is a mama’s boy and he can’t stand being away from me. I remember the first time that he was away from me. That was when Alex was defending his mother. Vlad was sleeping the whole time that I was gone. I don’t think he even knew that I left. If he did that would have been a bad thing.

“Alex, are you ready to go? I don’t want to be late. My parents are excited to see the baby.” I said with a big smile on my face. Vlad was sleeping at the moment. I put him in a little outfit. He looked really cute in the outfit I had bought for him a couple of days ago. I made Alex stay home so that I could go shopping for the baby.

“Alex, I want to go shopping. Can you watch the baby?” I asked.

“Sure, I’ll watch him. I hope that he doesn’t wake up. Can you get a pacifier for me?” He asked. Vlad didn’t cry as much when he had the pacifier in. I was glad that other people could hold him when I gave it to him.

“Thank you.” I said. I walked out the door and jumped in the car. I picked Carmen up because she wanted to go shopping with me. She said that she needed help picking out a dress. She needed one for a baby shower she was going to. She said that I had pretty good style, but I didn’t believe that I did. Carmen said that I dressed nicely outside of work. I did gain a little bit of weight because of the baby. I didn’t mind because I knew that I was going to gain weight anyway.

A Couple Hours Later

I heard crying when I walked into the house. Alex was sitting on the couch trying to rock Vladimir to sleep. He was crying loudly and Alex was a little frustrated. Alex jumped up and handed the baby to me. He stopped crying as soon as he entered my arms. I rocked him to sleep because it was way past his nap time. I think that he wanted his mother the whole time.

“What took you so long to go home?” He asked with a defeated look on his face. I was shopping and he knew that I loved shopping. I didn’t buy many clothes anymore because I had the baby. I didn’t want to bring him with me. I was glad that Alex had off that day.

“I’m sorry. You know that I love shopping a lot. I bought something for you by the way.” I said with a smile. Alex looked up at me and his eyes glowed with excitement. Alex had been talking forever about how he wanted this show on DVD. He had missed most of it because of work so I decided to be nice and buy the show for him.

“Thank you so much, baby.” He gave me a big kiss on the lips. He was happy for the rest of the night.

“I know, babe. I was just getting something for your dad. He wanted to borrow the show you bought me.” Alex said. I nodded and got the baby in the car seat. I didn’t think he was going to start crying. I know he didn’t like the car seat, but I would never hold him in a moving car. I was too cautious when it came to my child. I gave him the pacifier. He was calm for the car ride until the pacifier had fallen out of his mouth. I didn’t want to put it back in his mouth because it had fallen on the floor.

“It’s okay, honey.” I tried to say soothingly. He just reached his little arms out to me. I couldn’t take him and when he realized that he started to cry. I could feel tears coming into my eyes. I was glad that we were a minute away from my mother’s house. Alex looked over at me when we stopped the car. I took Vlad out of the car. Alex took his car seat from me. Vlad was looking at me the whole time while he was in the car seat. I knocked on my parent’s door. As soon as they opened it they were happy to see me. My mother gave me a kiss on the cheek. Vlad tried to smile a little. It was really cute. My dad gave me a hug. Mason was up in his room. He didn’t know that I had arrived.

“I’m so glad that you could make it honey! It’s been a while.” My mother said. She was smiling and I smiled back at her. I could tell that she had been worried about me. She knew all about Melody and what happened between us. I was thinking about what she would do to her if I had died or if Vladimir had died.

“I’m glad to visit, mom! I missed you so much!” I said giving her the biggest hug that I could muster. I was tired because last night Vladimir wouldn’t go to sleep. I don’t know why he couldn’t sleep. I had fed him in the middle of the night too. I had to feed him every two to three hours anyways. Vladimir was looking all over the place. I picked him up and gave him to mother. He didn’t seem so nervous. It was probably because he had been with her before. He tried to smile at my mom. She smiled at him and she was acting like she normally acted with babies. It was funny to watch.

I was still wondering where Mason was. He knew that we were coming today. I decided that I was going to go up to his room. Alex had been talking to my father. I knew they were talking about sports and the show that they both enjoyed. I didn’t watch the show with them so I didn’t know what it was about. I normally watched television sometimes at night. I was mostly with the baby. Alex was normally with us because he didn’t make me do everything. I was glad that I didn’t have to do everything.

Vlad saw me going upstairs, but I’m glad that he didn’t start to cry. He was just making baby noises at my mother. It was really cute. I knocked on Mason’s door. He didn’t answer the door. I opened the door to see that he had his headphones in his ears. He was reading a book. I didn’t understand how he could read with music. I don’t think I could ever listen to music and read.

I poked him on the arm. He jumped out of his skin, but when he saw it was me a smile grew on his face. He jumped up and hugged me. I wasn’t surprised that he gave me this big of hug. I kissed him on the cheek and rubbed his hair. I knew he still missed me. It’s been a while since he has visited me. “I miss you, Mason.”

“I miss you too, sis. I know I have came to see you lately, but I haven’t wanted to get in the way. I know that little Vlad is important.” He said with a smile. I knew I could sense some jealousy in my brother. I had never seen him jealous of anything. It was a little bit surprising.

“Are you jealous of Vlad?” I asked him. He started to laugh at that.

“No, I’m not jealous of him.” He said. I could tell by his eyes that it was a lie. Mason knew that Vlad had to be taken care of. He was too little to do anything by himself. I knew that he has needed me lately.

“Mason, you can come over any time you would like. I just need to take care of Vladimir now too. He is my child. I love you, little brother. I know you love your nephew, but you don’t have to jealous of him.” I said with a smile. Mason punched the wall next to me. I was surprised by that.

“I told you I’m not jealous of him. He’s a baby. He needs you, but I need you just as much as he does, sis. The dreams are getting worse. I need to be able to open up to someone. I don’t have anyone to do that with now. I wish you had never gotten married and had him. I need you more than you than ever and you aren’t around. I just want you to come back. I-I just I need to go. I’ll see you later, sis.” With that Mason took his jacket from off the closet door. He ran out of the room and out of the house. I went down the stairs and I had tears in my eyes. I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t think that he would explode on me. He knew that it was going to be this way when I had the baby. He knew that Alex was going to need me as well. I tried to make him understand, but he just didn’t.

Vladimir started to cry and I took him in my arms. I didn’t want to be upset in front of him. Alex took Vlad from me. He put him in car seat which made him cry more. Alex pulled him into his arms and held me. It’s been a while since he had been able to hold me. My parents were worried. I could tell by the looks on their face.

My mother called Mason. I heard him tell her that he would be back for dinner. Dinner was going to be in an hour or so. We were going to stay for dinner and I was going to feed Vlad and get him to take his nap. He was due for one anyways.

I rocked him to sleep, but I couldn’t help the tears that were starting to form in my eyes. My little brother was upset with me. And I couldn’t do anything about it. I just needed to talk to him more when he came home. I know that’s what would help in this situation. I would be there for him. And then everything will be okay. Or will it? I don’t know.
