New friend,

You are my new friend,

I met you through another,

At your picnic that you hosted,

It was really fun,

And I wasn’t as shy around you,

I think it was because you’re a female,

I normally am shy around new people.

 

I was able to open up,

Which is really good,

I can trust you,

Which is good because I can’t trust everyone,

You’re the same way though,

You’ve told me a lot,

I haven’t told anyone,

Don’t worry.

 

You have got me interested,

In bands that I didn’t know existed,

They are really good too,

I love the music and words,

Next time there is a concert,

I hope I can go,

We can hang out there!

 

I know you don’t have a lot of time,

Because your little monster keeps you busy,

But you’re a good mommy,

Don’t let others convince you otherwise,

If they do I will be there to punch them for you,

Trust me they don’t know what they are talking about.

 

I am glad to have met you as well,

New friend!

I can’t wait to hang out,

I have fun,

And when I start to drive I’ll be able to hang out more,

Which will be even more fun!

oh this is so sweet. It's something I can see giving to my best friend. I love this. So many people write about such dark emotions. It's nice to see a poem with a lighter side to it.
