How To Cry

How To Cry

A Poem by Edan

Forced into despair, his expression turned sour.

The child in adult form became saddened and dour.

You learn to pick your fights,

You have to or you die,

You have to pick your fights,

Don't ever wonder why.

Abused and hurt, a bloodied shirt,

His expression turns to rage.

How long did you think you could

Hold him in your cage?

This ragged child, once sun and smiles

Has forgotten how to try,

This angry child, this precious child,

Has forgotten how to cry.

You willfully expose him

To the most horrendous acts

And wonder why this little child

Is sinking through the cracks!

Once he knew how to cry and sure

That was okay.

But now he has forgotten

And you will have to pay.

Repressed depression coming to the fore. Could almost be a soldiers story. Well expressed piece.
