whispering place
A Poem by Ed Hart
the
chair
she
rescued from the thrift shop
for
five dollars
is
waiting next to the sofa
to be
recushioned
by her
farm girl hands
and
prettied with a blush of stain
we'll
leave the deeper scars
for
the wonder of a grandchild
soon
to be rocked

still this brings me to tears, this ..... maybe because i love the grandness of putting down roots with "another man's junk" turned into memories coming with the new. history offers comfort, warmth, contours that already fit. just sit back and ..... watch. i do hope you brought your piano, tho. you must play for me -- i'm particularly mourning not being able to play leonard cohen's Hallelujah.
