A Poem by Ed Hart
"

history lessons

"

on every corner

shadows

along the corridor

echos

         what were their names

better to remain

between dishes and duty

than ignite a roaming candlestick

we almost died

of broken hearts

I have read this through a few times. So many different meanings can be derived from this. I have chosen the irony of almost dying from a broken heart after surviving war. Wonderful poem.

world class infidelity...as for surviving the war, i did; it was all inside myself
Aide-memoire from God to the 'leaders,' of his bounteous creation.

It has been decided to let the politicians go first; an announcement suspending hostilities forever is expected at any time.

Beccy. :)

A great lesson indeed... school is never over for we learn everyday.

amen to that old friend
Just the mere phrase "ignite a roaming candlestick" is nearly a damn roman a clef all its ownself. You can't do that by happy accident.

I think this a watercolour of a memory poem.

heart's blood, Mr. T, hart's blood
A amazing poem my friend. Each short paragraph with meaning and a purpose. A strong ending to a outstanding poem.

I did my friend and you are welcome.
Reading, read.. Trying to decide if this is of life in general, past, present, Sir Hart. Or, of a specific time because you mention 'duty'. However, whichever its weepingly retrospective.. (poor English)

The Edge of Time could be a sonnet of its own, Sir Hart.
-- haha... brilliant... dark humour at its cutest... seems like the list of names is quite impressive and runs into several pages... :p

-- haha... oh, no... -- you're very welcome, Maestro Ed... :)
this is such a sad piece...war causes lots of broken dishes and cracked hearts...
and leaves those echoes, reminding us that shadows of those days, those battles, those lost soldiers lurk everywhere....
