I Knew I Loved You BeforeA Poem by Elizabeth Moore

I Knew I Loved You Before
we read each other’s minds that time we tripped acid and dressed up like Pocahontas and Alice in Wonderland because hey why the f**k not
when even Pink Floyd hurt our ears and the only thing that didn’t was the music we made so I played Rachmaninoff on the piano
with the missing keys that we got from goodwill and you got out a blank canvas and painted the notes as if they’d taken form in the air
and by the end we were both in tears because hey Prelude in C minor can do that to you I said it reminded me of Anna Karenina and
Tolstoy but you said it was like a creaking bridge and we spent the next twelve hours talking about god and the universe, lying naked in the light of the moon © 2010 Elizabeth Moore |
