FIGHTER'S DECEPTION

I fought a lot of people as a kid. It wasn't always warranted. This poem explores that with religion.

 

 

I fought my share of people when I was a kid
Never once dropped my guard or felt I should have hid
The truth is I enjoyed the fighting; winning at all costs
I would jump into a battle not caring if I won or lost
A voice deep down inside me would say turn and go home
But that would make me a coward; I wanted to be strong!
I beat down many tough people: I have the marks as proof
It wasn't until I got older that I became open to the truth
See Jesus was the voice inside me warning me not to fight
My battles were already won; he had already made things right
Every mark on my body was a measure of my selfish sin
It was my pride and stubborn desire to prove I could win
I was motivated by my anger; no one would make a punk out of me
My soul delighted in the destruction I gained from my small victories
Many people lose their souls and do not survive their choice
They hurt themselves and others because they don't listen to the voice
It’s a infernal masquerade, we rarely see the err of our wrong
As we bully others with prideful sin to prove that we are strong

This is nice. I thought it was a story about a muslim until Jesus was introduced. This fits our muslim brothers very well and there struggle in spreading Islam.I hope one day they are going to realize that fighting is for kids and that Jesus is always there to welcome them.

Forgiveness and compassion are things we should exhibit all the time. If we could only learn to forgive many people could avoid being hurt or killed. Thanks for reading this poem.

A lot of us were taught to fight. It was deemed cowardly if you ran away. The truth is some of the kids we fought were just as hurt as we were. It is never to late to teach understanding. Understanding should never be seen as weakness. Thanks for reading.
