IN LOVE

I should have known it was love, when I first met your eyes.
Your smile was unexpected and it took me by surprise.
I have to admit that being your friend drove me crazy. 
Every day I found myself longing to steal a kiss.
I tried hard to ignore it but thoughts of you would persist.
I finally accepted that I had fallen for you. 
I understood that I was yours from the very start.
I didn't just want your friendship, I longed for your heart.
Today, I finally proclaimed my love for you.
Surprisingly, you let me hold you for a while. 
You ignited an inner flame when you stole a kiss and smiled. 
As you laid your head on my chest, I almost lost my mind.
I was surprised when you whispered:

 

"I always wanted you to be mine."
