Genie in Your Bottle

Genie in Your Bottle

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

Quick song I wrote back in the day

"

You take so much from me, I feel like a genie in your bottle.
You keep me trapped inside your purposes, leaving me feeling hollow.
What wish haven't I granted you, what sacrifice haven't I made?
This genie is tired of giving up his magic
to someone who sees him as a slave.

Chorus:

Today, I'm breaking out of this bottle,
I'm gonna grant my own dreams.
You will miss me when I'm gone tomorrow
without your chains, I'll be free.
Good luck finding a genie for your demands
you won't find anyone like me again.

Selfish wishers never see the damage they do to your soul.
They greedily rub on the bottle because it gives them control.
I gave you all your wishes, but I don't remember you giving love back.
You took and took everything you wanted
until the bottle finally cracked.
Now your genie is free
and he's never coming back.

Chorus:

Today, I'm breaking out of this bottle,
I'm gonna grant my own dreams.
You will miss me when I'm gone tomorrow
without your chains, I'll be free.
Good luck finding a genie for your demands
you won't find anyone like me again.
