They can be conjured up. They might appear spasmodically.They can be premeditated. They are the making of man, woman or child!

                     THOUGHTS

There is a thought watching its captor

yearning to escape captivity ~ to spread

             across the page >>>

choosing time and effort to make itself known,

known to ears willing and able, eyes anxious to see.

Communicate it must ~ to be understood, acted upon

              and somehow put in motion.

Debatable this rising urge to express itself ...

be it logical, comical, rational or educational.

Its formidable skill at formulating ideas springing 

                          from the mind.

Assisted by the eyes they latch on, in coheasion

with the brain to create a miriad of different ideas.

Thoughts ~ yours and mine cover the widest expanse

of expressive behaviour, in the making of man or animal.

oh my...you know i would like this one...really excellent metaphor carried throughout this poem.
funny to think that our initial thoughts before being expressed are like prisoners...we cage them and we watch them...and when we think they are safe for others to be around...we unlock the door and let them out.

Something we take so much for granted kitty without stopping to really appreciate what we have been blessed with. For a start we would be like zombies, no creativity, no poetry. Next time my muse is driving me nuts with her invasion late at night, I will pause and reflect and not be so harsh on her. I like the idea of those thoughts being like prisoners, waiting for an escape route. I enjoyed that very much. Thoughts can be persistent little wotsits can't they? Hope all is good with you dear kitty.

There are so many things we take for granted ,when on second/ contemplative thought. Gone on strike gainst heavy work so I now have time to go over poems I had on hold. Will select and post 'oldies' later.

I can truly say I never thought in that vein before. But it would be a sad day if I could not entertain a thought much less have one. A very clever display of what makes us cognizant and emotional creatures and to be able to convey that to others. All that would be left is acting on impulse or intuition without regard for consequence. A very good write...loved it!
