sometimes i like to think about sinking my teeth into your forearm
just because the words im trying to say don't do a godamn thing
when talk ensues, occasionally there's the sigh of relief
at finally making a connection, a base worth standing on
there is now a common similiarty to what both persons are trying to say...and have said
we say the same thing.
and at least one is left with defiance
"why couldn't i have said it first?"
silences files out a hole
icy chokehold grabs ahold of nostril hairs and pull
hard
we all know that to fight hypothermia you eat chocolate
and i know
biting into chocolate
leaves a taste of dirt.
yet we crunch anyway thankful of a life possibly saved
until spewing
a mix of chocolate fragments and half pronounced sentences
eyebrows turn at an upward slant which sounds off the rattlesnake
hisssssssssss of a tail
and if you could take
three
steps
back
and realize
we're all alone
shouting at a dirty mirror
and a moutful of dirt
