Summer 2013A Poem by Elise AntonIt really happened! There was symmetry on that stretch of sandy beach away from noisy children and the dogs at play.
There was. A gathering of thoughts collating, somehow properly fitting a pattern mostly eluding me times past.
Low tide exposed some things covered so long ago I thought they'd all eroded.
I wrote with toes
“Hello
William,”
as
though you were above
and
seeing the greeting,
smiling.
Anything to amuse you.
The words stayed past the tide. Next day, someone had
walked across and
written,
“Hello stranger”.
Yeah. That serves me f*****g right. © 2016 Elise Anton |
