A coffee that will never leave...

A coffee that will never leave...

A Poem by Elise Anton
"

I sat having a coffee with my soul-mate. A week later he was dead. I'd forgotten the cups on the balcony...

"

The table on the balcony

two cups,

I stare. A coffee that will never leave,

I scream.

Never mind the tears

they come and mostly dry.

This cup, reminding

words unsaid, this pause -

the sunlight just so right, so wrong.

We loved the summer

now only one of us bathes in its heat,

the other shivering, otherworldly.

I should have kept

the cup half-drunk, the way you left it

but the optimist in me

spilled it out.

It sits, the dregs filling with thunder rain

and I sit across, talking as usual.

I feel your grin.

“Give up old girl, I ain't ever coming.”

The cup and I still keeping company

and knowing you are right.

Tears leaked before i realized. Well i am an emotional fool, I guess it was to be expected. Words will not be enough to express what i want to. To bid one farewell is really tough, this i understand well. Truly touched my heart in more than one ways.
