Laws of Motion

Laws of Motion

A Poem by Ella Simone

Lunging, lurching, gaining, grasping

Willing, working, aiming, asking

For another hole to fill

Clipping, counting, plucking, pasting

Sprinting, but still seconds wasting

As I climb back up the hill

I suffer from a sick devotion

To catching days through constant motion

I feel them slip when I lie still

I tell myself, just two degrees

Lower, and then I can freeze

The seas of time that never will
