Dragon Rider

A poem, originally written by me in my mother language, then translated by me in English in a way so both versions have rhymes, the content was slightly changed, but the main story stays untouched.

Out of doors in gloomy night,
thereabouts where forest lies,
the wind echoed in its flight
upon the dew beneath the skies.

Close, beyond the mountain hills
a loud pair of wings is clapping,
a storm of red, approaching, feels
like a deity is battling.

Out of doors it’s drizzling slightly,
meanwhile, in woodland throne
a glare shined, reluctant, brightly,
furtively, but not alone.

Down and down, descending, landing,
scaly beast the bushes swings,
a figure on his back is hanging -
a maiden in between his wings.

I wonder what this creature seeks,
lurking here with its rider.
The crimson dragon nods and peeks,
colored, lit in bloody fire.

The nymph-maiden swiftly leapt
and started barefoot moon dancing
in circles, wanton tresses swept
and waved around the dragon glancing.

But suddenly, the dance was stopped,
a cracking branch she heard from there,
the charming nymph on dragon hopped
and vanished, frightened, in the air.
