A Wall-less DoorA Poem by E. L. FoleyI find tetrameter so much easier than pentameter, for some reason. Reading Alice in Wonderland and a book on the effect of consciousness on quantum mechanics got me thinking about choices.Walking along the darkened shore on a night not so unlike this, he came upon a wall-less door-- strange portal, difficult to miss.
Standing bare beneath starry sky, alone among the whispering reeds it beckoned him that choice was nigh-- time for considered thoughts and deeds.
“I like my life; I want to stay but how can I know what to do, another chance mayn't pass my way”-- so promptly split himself in two.
One to go, one here to remain: leaving no choice, regret, or pain, never wondering of Something More, his second self stepped through the door.
